I know ver 2 isn't ready for Win 10. but just for the heck of it I tried a restore on 2 different Win 10 systems with the same result. I post this in case it would be helpful to someone else or the Devs. It asks to select target disk then lists the disks that are the potential source not target. Never seen this before in Win 7 and it happens every time. My apologies if it was a waste of time for everyone.

It is not win 10 ready so no point to test it on win 10.

As I said, that was known and it was just for the heck of it. Sometimes weird things work.

Beta worked fine on my XP SP3 box. Few restores, all Ok. Faster than version 1.

Thanks for the update on the beta. It's good to hear something positive. I'd love to hear more good news in this regard. I'd love to test the beta but I'm testing something else currently.

I tested the last beta, and it works, but it's not any faster then Macrium v6 paid. Plus the limitation of the tracking file, and the Perfect Disk situation, is still there, neither of which affect Macrium. So it's biggest advantages may be it's a bit simpler, and cheaper. But to say it's as reliable, that is a question. I can't take the time to test it as it's not as fast and also I just don't want the tracking file on my system.

Thanks Peter, I appreciate the info. Was not taking snapshots faster than Reflect? The initial snap with AX64 took about an hour but after that never more than maybe 5-6 minutes with significant changes.

I'm sorry but I must have missed what the tracking file is and why it's problematic. (I don't use Perfect Disk.)

My time with TM v2 snapshot incrementals is no faster then Macrium v6 incrementals. Here is the issue with the tracking file factor. AX64 as well as Shadowprotect use a tracking file. So if something breaks the tracking file, like say going into Shadowmode with ShadowDefender, and then exiting out with a reboot breaks the tracking file, then both AX64 and Shadowprotect have to repair the tracking file which means the time an incremental takes is the same as a full image. Macrium doesn't use a tracking file, so under the same conditions Macriums incremental is as fast as ever. Huge advantage.

I bought this program, but haven't had it installed in ages and haven't followed this thread of late.
I gave up on it, but I see there are still people who use it.

    Is it working OK now?

I fully agree with this. Sometimes, simply rebooting to perform a chkdsk on C: breaks the tracking file with the mentioned consequences. So Macrium is definitely more powerful in that area.

I had a very nasty issue with TMV2 : I tried to perform a merge, it froze, it happens sometimes, instead of rebooting, I tried again and got a BSOD (win8.1), after that my PC wouldn't reboot and on the 6 partitions that are on the HDD, only the first one was still visible, not the C: one neither the recovery one. I had to restore the full drive (using AOMEI Backupper Pro 2). Since then I removed TM V2.

Thanks Peter. I wondered after I replied about the tracking file if that wasn't the issue. The tracking file matter is a pain at times. Oddly enough, my last incrementals have been every bit as fast as TM v2. A earlier one did take 40 minutes for some reason. Thus far I've had no problems with Macrium 6. More of a slight learning curve but very nice indeed.

Working just fine on Windows 10 here. But maybe am.not doing it right. In any event, since it is working, even if it's not supposed to, am satisfied with that.

It would be nice to hear something official from Wal. Anything official sure has been a while--once again. I would say the silence and lack of chatter is indicative of not much progress going on. No one it talking about problems but nor are they saying the beta is a winner.

BitsDuJour SPECIAL Today Only - 4-pack license for $5 per system.

...and yes, I've been doing some basic testing of the non-Public version that uses NT Native App Mode, not WinPE, at normal Windows BOOT time (this is where BOOT time defrags, ChkDisk, etc. run). With my simple Legacy-MBR system and while using INTERNAL SSDs/HDDs only, the restore has worked very well and is at least as snappy as it was under v1's HOT restore without all the external OS loading required by the WARM restore's WinPE.

YMMV when it is released for Public BETA (shortly, I believe)...

    Thanks, Stapp!

So glad to hear this. Will it use the same tracking file approach (and that small downside) as previous versions?

I'll ask first: Since buying the current version will get the upgrade (per Isso), do those who already have the current version get that as well?
