Recently, I have acquired a Pebble Smartwatch, which is a very handy tool. Here are my 8 loaded apps: Pebblets Canvas Dashboard Shake Dice Keep Nav Me PebbleAuth Pixel Miner Since I own pretty much all kinds of modern electronics, there is very little I want anymore: 4K monitor (at least 1080p to match my gaming laptop), maybe Google Glass. Anyhow, share your wearable tech here!
Perhaps this counts? http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/196094-symantec-is-making-norton-protected-pants
I want powered-exoskeleton-style full-on Borg kit, with a defensive force field, and head-mounted flechette and mini-cruse-missle launchers, full auto payload selection, with manual override.
Surprisingly after changes here and there, what I currently have installed has only 1 different loaded app: Mr. Runner instead of Pixel Miner. It's a play any time you want game instead of micro-management.
With version 2.9, Android Wear notifications are supported. That means I can reply to any supported apps using 5 pre-set messages or a variety of default texts/smilies, dismiss the notification, or open the app. That is not only a convenience, but a possible security (don't have to pull out your phone) and battery saving (phone screen stays off) feature.
10 Wearables From MWC You'll Actually Want http://www.pcmag.com/slideshow/story/332558/10-wearables-from-mwc-you-ll-actually-want
I won a Moto 360 at a hackathon and I didn't really care for it. The ability to check notifications on it is kinda neat but it doesn't offer much functionality I use outside that. The turn by turn navigation is actually pretty cool but If I'm using that, my phone is just going to be in my stand on my dash, which I'd rather use than the watch. Don't really care for the pulse and pedometer stuff. Going to be getting the watch on Ebay soon.
i'm a pebble time backer, have had my 64 color e-paper watch for a couple weeks. love it. still using the same watchface i had on my earlier B&W pebble, hopefully they'll update it to color soon. the 7-day battery life is a lot better that the fruit iwatch & easier to read in sunlight. not as many colors, but i'm not planning on watching videos on it anyway. lot cheaper than the iwatch too. you can have as many apps as you desire, no longer limited to 8.
Upgraded to a LG G Watch W100 for $80 off of Craigslist. Now I have quite a number of apps that I will list later, but I definitely like it even more than the original Pebble!
Finally got around to write about it: http://t7j7l.blogspot.com/2015/08/my-lg-g-watch-w100.html Sorry for the "promotion" of my blog, but I can't fit a full review here without taking up too much space.
Not high at all "tech", I give you the Hoodie Buddie. Seriously though, they are very convenient, and surprisingly durable. I expected them not to work after a few washes but I've had them for years with no problems. And I've even come across some pretty cool looking ones. Come from heavier ones nice for autumn nights and light, breathable mesh types. You can run, train, fish, or just do whatever and the ear buds stay in my ears (anyway) very well. In the fall I pretty much always have one on, having more than 1 for every day of the week.
I'd be interested in the right watch if it comes along. I don't want a band, or any glasses or goggles. Or any "smart" clothing. There aren't a lot of options for pairing something with Windows phone, but I may be jumping back to Android next time.
And don't forget that "Sleep Examiner" app that tells you you had a great, refreshing quality sleep with a 91% quality rate (with 4 hours of REM sleep!) after you've been up watching TV during the whole night !
Recovered my Pebble from the dead (bricked cause nobody was using it for at least weeks). Have it synced with my iPod Touch 6. Now dual-wielding smartwatches and mobile devices daily! Android Wear apps as shown on my watch (including "built-in" ones, although that sort of depends on your phone): 2048, Agenda, Alarm, Audio Recorder, Authenticator, Calculator, Compass, Find my phone, Fit, Flashlight, Google, Keep, Maps, Notification Toggle, Settings, Stopwatch, Timer, Together, Tool Box, Translate, Weather, World clock. Pebble apps as shown on my watch (including built-in "Time" firmware ones): Settings, Music, Notifications, Alarms, Watchfaces, Mr. Runner, My Steps, My Vancouver Bus, Pokedex, Shake Dice, Stopwatch, Timer, XKCD Comics. Yes there are some duplicates, but I like to use them according to what's convenient and which one is actively receiving notifications or doing other tasks at the time. Also I disabled Fit cause I don't really care for it, and it uses up battery. Surprisingly, which my LG G Watch is stuck with Android Wear 1.3 (Lollipop), the classic Pebble has been updated with new "Time" features via a more recent firmware...
Pebble smartwatches could be kept alive by an unofficial developer group called Rebble June 15, 2018 https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/15/17467740/pebble-smartwatch-rebble-fitbit
I did end up getting a Samsung Gear S3. it was ok until the last OS update. Now it is slow and sucks a lot of battery. If they did that to make me think I need the S4 when it comes out it was a bad plan. I likely will never get another as I do not feel it is worth the money when I already have a phone that will do the same things.
Apple Watch is already killing off other wearables September 4, 2018 https://bgr.com/2018/09/04/global-wearables-market-apple-watch-in-the-lead/
Personally, I think the Apple watch looks terrible. I really don't like the square design and prefer the traditional round design used by Samsung and even cheap Chinese smart watches. But, I guess that millions of people disagree with me.
