If it's free they have no customers and no resources to improve the product. HMPA has a lot of nifty extra features, and even the free version of MBAE is stripped down.

Fortunately, to balance out the people who want everything for free, there are users who are willing to pay a developer for a good program.

If you want a free product you can always start your own development project ;)
In that case it becomes clear how much time it sometimes take to develop decent software.

As a side note: HMPA v3 contains more functionality then HMPA v2 (the free version)

Yes, it definitely should be free, so people have more cash in order to buy a new telephone for 400 - 700 dollars every 12 months (at the latest). Otherwise you cannot show yourself in school or at work anymore.

How can you be a customer if it is free?

Hitman pro should tell on their site that its no-longer free, as there are better ones out there. Their hitman pro is no-longer thought off and is no-longer a great product as there are plenty of multi-engine FREE out there with better protection and with their pathetic double engine uselessness at offering effective protection, their alert version will go that way too.

One day hitman pro will go the way of other anti-malwares and is forgotten or bought. Kudos to malwarebyte that it still stood true to cause and still offers a free version which over time can lead to to purchasing of their paid version. Showing they did not abundant their free customers to their god the money is appreciable.

Alert 3 is a different software so, if you don't know what you are talking about, please keep quiet

I should add that hitman pro alert should mention it is no-longer a free apps, so that we do not install and pollute the pc and find out its a paid software and have to uninstall and LEAVING BEHINDS JUNKS AND TRACES that would cause a headache to clean off. They area pathetic company.

For your info I am paid customer of hitman pro for 3 years and when my current subscription is finished in a few months, I will never renew because of their sudden changing policy on the hitman pro alert. It will be good riddens.

    1. The licensing model of HitmanPro has been the same for the past years. (30 day trial)
    2. Regarding HitmanPro.Alert: You get HMPA for free if you have a license for HitmanPro, so nothing changes if you already had a license

I am not even going to waste any more time on continuing this discussion with someone who comes up with random things that are completely irrelevant.

First of all Hitman Pro Alert does work in a free/unlicensed mode; it simply does not have all features enabled which is also true for MalwareBytes AntiExploit. It is generally the case that free versions of security software have fewer features enabled to encourage users to upgrade. Also Hitman Pro and Hitman Pro Alert use the same license, so since you have a subscription both are fully functional for you. Did you not know that?

Certain features are still free in HMPA? I don't know why you are being so hostile. Did you have a bad experience with Surfright's products, or is it only about HMPA not being free? There is no need for this.

EDIT: I just read Victek's post, he explained it better.

    Hi!
For reasons unbenownst to me when I try to do a scan with Alert 3 I now get "Failed" in the gray square for scanning. It worked before.

    PS:
I installed the HitmanPro scanner next to Alert 3 to see what would happen, and then Alert scans. After the scan the gray block turns green. To test it I removed the stand alone HitmanPro scanner, and the same result: Alert says "Failed" again. So for me now Alert 3 only scans when I also have HitmanPro's separate scanner installed. Strange but funny in a way... :)

Maybe OT, but do you mean that if you're using EIS, you have to manually scan the e-mail that comes in?

Actually when you click "scan computer" in HitmanPro.Alert it downloads HitmanPro to do the scan. It should work without installing HitmanPro first, but it's fine to leave the "standalone" HMP installed since that works for you.

I am having an issue with Alert and I am curious whether someone else has experienced the same thing.

Since a few months I have troubles with getting CryptoGuard enabled. It seems like it is permanently disabled and cannot be enabled using the Alert interface.
(The Alert test tool confirms that CryptoGuard is not enabled)

Any thoughts on this one? (If nothing helps I will just wipe my disk and perform a reinstall)

    EDIT: Okay, nevermind.
Manually changing the 'CryptoGuard' registry key to 'On' and re-installing HMPA solved the issue.

I don't worry about scanning Email. I get email two ways. One is my online browser which is protected by SBIE, and it never see's my hard drive. My other email is via Outlook, and it stays contained in the pst file. Besides EIS I protect everything with Appguard, and HMPA so I just don't worry about email

    Thanks.
Yes, it scanned before without HitmanPro installed. I unistalled Sandboxie and installed it again, same with Alert 3 and HitmanPro. Maybe that has something to do with it. But it doesn't matter, HitmanPro is on my notebook, but I only see Alert 3 as an icon in the tray. And it scans on demand.

I dont remember Hitman Pro being free, ever. I did a review on it on my website and the members didnt like the fact that it uploaded file to their site. We have a lot of developers on our site that post betas for us to test. Not A/V or malware programs but it classified information.

Since I upgraded to Windows 10 keyboard input is sometimes lagging and in some cases I get garbage (Alert protection?) instead of what I enter.
