I have a friend who got an alert that her hard drive was going to fail. We have a new hard drive in hand. I made a backup using Paragon Backup & Recovery Free. Can I install Paragon on my laptop, connect the new hard drive via my USB to Sata adapter and restore the Paragon backup to the new hard drive that way? Then, I should just be able to pull out the failing drive, install the replacement, boot up and be done?

I would use the setup you describe to just initialize the new drive, then install it in its final position and restore there. This avoids possible boot problems after the restore.

Robin, thanks for the prompt response! Can you point me to a KB article or something similar that tells me how to do just an initialization? I'm looking at the manual in PDF and don't see anything about it. Thanks again!
