I'm well aware that it was discontinued, but until I decide on a suitable replacement I see no reason to stop using it because the add-on still works.

As I mentioned, I've been reading through the uBlock and uMatrix threads. As long as development and support are consistent, I will probably go with one of these addons. Otherwise, I don't see myself going back to adblock plus anytime soon. Not to mention, that I've experimented with host files and with blocking advertising at the router and firewall levels. Both show some promise, though I wish that comodo didn't use a consult the person that manages your system page.

Added VTzilla as I realize it's working fine again. I ditched it awhile back because it wasn't, but a buddy in here brought it to my attention and I checked it out again and it seems it's fixed. Useful combined with a good DNS service and maybe WOT to weed out bad sites. I only use the link scanning feature. Since I have all new downloads scanned with VT Hash Check and sent to a sandboxed partition using the function to scan before download is redundant. Neat feature for others though.

I've been using ublock origin for a while. In what way do you feel it isn't "more compatible with Ubuntu"? I don't have a Windows OS to compare with, hence my question.

It works fine now both on Firefox and Chromium with Ubuntu. For some reason it wouldn't seem to install on Firefox on Ubuntu, I'm guessing it was some synching issue (I have Firefox synched on multiple computers and operating systems) more than anything else.

This post was from May 31st. I think I replaced ABE with uBlock shortly afterwards.

Have to revoke my previous post. I no longer use Firefox on any of my computers. Switched to Chrome Browser for compatibility with Windows 10 and ease of deployment and management.
