Sure of course, but when i try to search inside the list for s3.amazonaws.com i cannot find a reference either to amazonaws.com Edit: Ok it exists in the malware domains list but not in the list store by umatrix. Any idea why this happens?
I'd like to make a feature request. There are options to delete local storage content set by blocked hostnames and to delete blocked cookies, is it possible to have flash cookies also deleted?
I use these rules in uMatrix: * * * block * * cookie block * * css allow * * frame block * * image allow * * other block * * plugin block * * script block * * xhr block * 1st-party * block Does anyone know how to allow only .com domains and block all other ones because I block 1st party domains that way something could not download automatically even though I am on a Chromebook, I just want extra security I tried .com 1st-party * inherit and ^.com 1st-party * inherit and *.com 1st-party * inherit I also tried allow instead of inherit and it did not work. I would appreciate if someone could help me with this it would be great. Thanks, Malwar
Try * com * allow By the way, 1st-party is never used as source hostname (or "scope") in a rule, only as destination hostname.
Thank you gorhill that worked!! Is their anyway to block certain file types from downloading? For example even though I use a Chromebook, if I used a windows pc could I block .exe from downloading?
I've been having trouble with Pushbullet's SMS popups as I posted at https://github.com/gorhill/uMatrix/issues/307#issuecomment-125301031. I've tried the last part, opening the logger receiving texts, and allow anything Pushbullet-related in the behind-the-scenes context. However, the text of the message doesn't show up, and I can't reply either. What else can I try?
I noticed this change today using Chrome and updating uBlock and uMatrix extensions. After that I tried as normally to update the hosts files and 3rd party filters. Nothing happened, they did not update. I guessed the reason was uMatrix blocking something. Normally I allow only css and image. I checked the logging and there were entries to xhr, relating to files that tried to have updated. So something was different than usual and only after allowing the xhr column in uMatrix, I was able to update the hosts files and 3rd-part filters in uBlock. I allowed it on temporary basis of course.
Quite frankly, I'm a bit puzzled about your post. Updating those 3rd party filters have always required to whitelisted the respective XHR cells in the behind-the-scene scope (provided that you block behind-the-scene requests by default). This hasn't changed for me.
Yes I block behind-the scene. It is just that without allowing it temporary I surely could not had updated the extensions. But as you say I might have disabled that temp allowance somehow. If no one else can reproduce the behaviour, then my bad.
Using uMatrix in GoogleChrome I have a new problem on this site: http://www.nbcnews.com/dateline I have previously watched videos via a normal internet connection on the site without problem. However, now i get a popup error 'No PDK baseUrl could be detected" If I completely disable the uMatrix extension in Chrome, I can watch videos without problem. I completely disabled all other extensions and then enabled the uMatrix extension ... and still get the error. Next (with all other extensions still disabled) I disabled uMatrix filtering for the nbcnews.com site scope (as well as unchecked all hosts files), yet I still get the error. And the log file does not show any blocked connections... So with only uMatrix enabled but fully neutered I am still unable to watch the videos. And then again disabling the uMatrix extension, the problem goes away. When searching this error on the internet, it seems that many people are having problems with this site now and adblock (I don't have that installed). I do normally have uBlock installed ..and it is interesting that uBlock does not interfere with watching the videos (only uMatrix) ... I'm not sure where to go from here ...
I tried it and it worked for me. Among other things I had to allow "other" for nodeassets.nbcnews.com, snappytvpoc-pmd.nbcuni.com,media1.s-nbcnews.com and link.theplatform.com. And scripts for s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com.
I am pretty sure it has been mentioned beofre but I could not find it but how do I make youtube videos to load as 3rd party?
It is also working again for me with my original configuration.... The popup error "No PDK baseUrl could be detected" is gone ....maybe the problem was at nbc .. thanks
NBC's website is a disaster. I get all kinds of popups there similar to what you pointed out. I just don't bother with it anymore.
For NBC's website, the following elements are required for me to get it working: 2o7.net bootstrapcdn.com adobedtm.com cloudflare.com cloudfront.net fwmrm.net theplatform.com in fact, I allow all of these globally, since they are frequently seen on many sites I've navigated.
I've never found it necessary to allow 2o7.net. It's one of the Adobe tracking domains, and I block them everywhere without running into problems. adobedtm.com is I block it like I do with fwmrm.net which is also a 3rd party tracker.
I also do not need to allow any of these to watch video at the NBC site: 2o7.net bootstrapcdn.com adobedtm.com cloudflare.com cloudfront.net fwmrm.net But I'm presently located in Thailand and sometimes I have regional variations ..
A lot of persistent trackers use 2o7.net sometimes seen as 112.2o7.net there are variations of it but it belongs to adobe - I'd kill that. fwmrm.net is something related to a video player maybe video ads, I used to see it on ESPN's site as is 'the platform' its necessary to watch videos on Comcasts sports sites.
You guys are right, 2o7.net is not required for the NBC site. Thanks for the heads up I didn't have it allowed outright globally, rather it was a global noop rule, so at least static filtering is applied. I know I've encountered other sites that needed it, so I ended up with the global noop rule. I find there are a number of "trashy" sites that won't render properly unless some ad/tracking sites are allowed. I try to avoid these sites if at all possible. *EDIT* forgot to mention I'm using uBlock these days.
uMatrix on AMO was marked as fully reviewed yesterday night, so I will be able to release (signed) dev builds on AMO. Will try to release such build later today.
Using uMatrix - and uBlock origin - for a couple of months, I found these extensions awesome. Tank you gorhill for bringing tu us such gems. What are the benefits of using any third-party filter list if I use default-deny modes in uMatrix / uBlock0 ? Can I get ride of these lists ?
