Cool! I'm trying that right now.
I wonder if it would be similar to doing a reset? Settings > Update and Security > Recovery > Get Started.

The only thing I had to do after the Win10 to Win10 upgrade was to reinstall the Australian Language Pack.

well for the first time i have an issue upgrading. it was configuring settings and was stuck. it attempted to restore the previous version but now the bootmgr is missing or corrupted. good thing i made a full backup first. everything went smooth up till that point though not sure why it would get stuck at that point. so 1 so far out of probably 40-50 is still pretty good. now to figure out what the heck is wrong with this one

OK start the update again and let it get to 83% once it seems frozen press the power button to put the system to sleep and wait a few minutes. Press it again to wake it back up and it may take 10 minutes or more but it should move forward even if its slow at first. Try it and let me know. Came from someone I know at ms.

it will not by itself. you pressed the power button quickly? that should put it to sleep if not you may have to change the way the button works in power settings in the control panel. normally this will put the system to sleep. i know it sounds stupid but i will tell you the system i had here with the EXACT same thing you see (83% and 33%) is now running windows 10 perfectly by doing this

Yeah I mean it should have gone into sleep but I'm not sure I'll go and check in the control panel as you suggested and let you know what happens. EDIT- yeah you were right, I had to go into control panel and set it to go to sleep

only other thing if all else fails.... make a full backup. do a fresh windows 7 install nothing else. then upgrade to win 10 and pull all your files and data out of the backup and reinstall programs.

Although staying on Win 7 I do have a win 10x64 image that I keep updated. I found with both my image and a virtual machine on 10 the updates, can hang fail, etc. I just keep trying them every day and eventually they go. Got to love it.
