    DefiantTech,

When I was experiencing multiple failures I was downloading updates. It was very time consuming so I stopped doing it. The failures continued so the updates weren't the cause. I believe the updates are downloaded after Windows is up and running, so you do get them eventually.

Ok well that'll be the next thing I try. Thanks a lot man! Also, one more thing. I am currently in the middle of an attempt right now and I just got to he point where it has been freezing but I noticed that when the resolution changed during the driver install shortly later it changed back to what it was before. So could there be an issue with video drivers??

I just tested running setup.exe from a DVD instead of a UFD. It works just as well.

Yes. I've seen some upgrades finish with strange monitor resolutions. When the video drivers have been installed from Windows Update, all is OK again.

My son has dual monitors. The second monitor didn't work at all until the video drivers had been installed.

I'm now upgrading Win10 to Win10. The Maps app didn't work on my test computer so I'll see if this fixes it.

    Edit... Finished and Maps works.

Interestingly my ISO fails each time in exactly 33%. I tried changing languages settings and running ISO as admin mode. No go.

i made multi edition (contains all editions as well as x86 and x64 versions) usb drives. i put them in and go through the upgrade procc that way. finished 4 more systems today again so far not a single issue. getting calls like crazy to do upgrades. im booked for like the next 2 weeks straight from people who dont want to attempt it themselves. a few systems did take a lot longer than others but all finished without errors

I couldn't do that. In the Store, Maps was reported as installed even though it didn't work. There was no uninstall/reinstall. Any ideas?

But at least I know a Win10 to Win10 upgrade works.

usually you can manually remove the package and then reinstall it. i use powershell to do this. run powershell as admin

then Get-AppxPackage then find the name of the one you want then run remove-appxpackage PackageFullName.

    then use Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like "*windowscommunicationsapps*"} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online

to reinstall the package you want or go to the app store and get it there

    DefiantTech,

Do you have a Win7 image created prior to the first Win10 attempt? If so, restore it and start a Win10 upgrade again.

No I don't have an Image before the first Win10 attempt even though I probably should have.. I have just been relying on the built in restore to previous windows to do the job. And I am up to 4 trials with the same error so I am not too sure if its just a waste of time to do it again? Do ya know anything else I can try?

defiantTech if you can for me try to disconnect fully from the internet. run the upgrade then reconnect after that. i have suggested this to a few people now and it has worked for all of them. once you reconnect it will activate

When exactly do you want me to reconnect? After I get into win 10 if it works? Or sometime during the process

Disconnect before you start and don't reconnect until Win10 has booted.

    Brian,
When you say upgrading Win10 to Win10, do you mean you ran the ISO on a machine that had already upgraded to Win10?

Correct. It fixed the non working Maps app. The method has promise.
