I'm running Comodo IS, using IceDragon rather than Chromodo. Chromodo causes problems with YouTube on this computer. I'm loving Comodo so far, especially the ability to run the browser only virtualized. Ccleaner has an easy job at the end of each day. I don't know how good Comodo's AV is, but running sandboxed or virtual has so far kept everything I don't want off my computer.

Are there any uptodate "recommended"settings somewhere?.Most ive seen are for version 6.Id like a balance between ease of use and security.Would like hips enabled. Also do you have to manually clean the sandbox/reset after browsing session or does cis perform auto clean after session like sandboxie?

"Recommended" settings are default - HIPS off, AutoSandbox on, though I prefer HIPS on. As for auto clean of sandbox, there's no such a feature yet. You have to reset sandbox manually

Installed CIS and so far no problems except it takes like forever for the CIS icon to appear in the task bar after bootup. Takes about minute for CIS icon to appear after the network, speaker and Action Center icons appear. Is this normal ?

Is CIS set to delay startup in services?

No. Automatic startup not delay auto startup. What about Comodo Virtual Services Manager...that was set on Manual in Services.

    Hi
I installed Comodo firewall and activated the auto sandbox and HIPS but inactivated the firewall, the info i have tells me that that should be possible. But no, it did not work at all, the program stopped me from connecting to the internet totally.
What am i missing or doing wrong?

You don't want firewall, install antivirus only....... https://antivirus.comodo.com/downlo...5sk1=7ee778df2849d83a3c7825cfcf7e6919e8fd8b44

2 answers and none of them can read, well well, i have to wait for someone who can!

The only thing i want from Comodo is all the other protection it gives except the F-w and as i wrote, the info i have says that it should be possible.

And I gave it to you.
Install AV, disable AV, enable HIPS and Sandbox, problem solved.

The info you have is wrong. You can not disable the FW.
As GakunGak said you have to install the AV only.

Okej guys, thank you for clarifying that !
So that is how it was, the Av had thoose protections also and there one could use only them.Good . Once again, thank you.

As long as i have your attention, the Av came out pretty recently as reconstructed and i wonder if it is any better than before. Any test anywhere?

pb1- Did you perhaps select the "Block All"lfirewall setting instead of the "Disable" in your initial setup?

As far as i remember no, i inactivated the Fw on the Home main frame and also checked that option you are talking about.
Why do you ask?...is it possible to use the Fw`s other protections without the Fw or what. Not that it matters now, just wondering.

Have you seen any tests of their "new" Av?

There are other settings that can be found simply by right-clicking on the Comodo icon in the tray and from the menu that will present clicking "Advanced View". Then by right-clicking again and selecting Firewall you will see Block all, Custom Ruleset, Safe Mode, Training Mode, and Disabled.

If Disabled was selected, there wouldn't have been any blocks at all, so I am suspecting that this was not done. Also, for those that seem to have an issue with a particular application not getting Network access, switching temporarily to Custom Mode and allowing it at that point will resolve most issues.

As for opinions on the AV I am probably the worst person to ask. I find any AV pointless as long as a quality sandbox, properly set, is in place.

Disabled doesn't mean "disabled", it means the FW is not filtering and Windows FW is really disabled... so there isn't any firewall protection; you're really just confusing the thread (which is confused enough).

    No.
Even of their "old" AV there's not a lot to guide you. But according to my previous experience of Comodo I'd feel very, very safe with their combo of AV/HIPS/Sandbox.

I tried the Cfw again and did just as before but this time it worked to get out on the net. Huh, peculiar.
It is possible to run Cfw with the fw inactivated and the HIPS and S-box activated and working just as you can do with Cav. So my info was right.

The reason for trying HIPS with S-box was for testing how good it is to detect/stop adware programs in the way unchecky does but that was not so successful unless one used paranoid mode for the HIPS. Other than that it gives very good register and malware protection on a Pc. Together with Unchecky and a decent simple Av like Fortinet it would be a solid free protection solution.

There is not any "disable" mode in Cfw 8.2.0.4591, only block all, custom ruleset, training and safe mode.

Maybe next time you can try to be more specific about what you're trying to accomplish.
Otherwise use a forum where they share your speech articulation, to the point reasoning and politeness, something like Comodo's forums.

    Hi GakunGak
I have, i was looking straight at it when i wrote my reply above.
The only "disable" that existed where at the main front Gui.

Anyway, this is over and done with now so thank you for your attention.

I have to verify, but I think latest CIS in Win10 makes Remove USB Safely option funky. When I use that feature, it doesn't give me message it is safe to unplug USB drive anymore. And once I do that, the trey menu cannot be open again until you unplug the USB. Then it starts working. Wasn't happening before with avast!, Panda Free or Windows Defender...
