How can I stop Windows 7 from upgrading to 10? I have uninstalled KB3035583 multiple times, but it keeps reinstalling itself. If I untick the update in Microsoft update manager it ticks itself back. Then it installs itself back when shutting the computer down. Will choose "hide update" stop the update from installing? Also, is this the official Microsoft support forum? http://forum.thewindowsclub.com/forum.php I have not been on their forum for quite some time, and can't remember.

Hi CE, try hiding that specific update, it should work.

Ok, I just did. I was not sure if hiding the update would prevent it from installing. I have never had to hide an update before to stop it from installing. I always just unticked an update in the past, and that worked. I guess it's the fact that they are not pushing it out as an optional update. Thank You!

since i changed the setting on "provide recc updates same as important updates" and uninstalled KB3035583 i havent seen that icon in the tray any more. previously i had hidden that update and it didnt work to stop it from reappearing. also i had set Windows Update to manual only and never check but i guess M$ do whatever they like.

According to the other thread it seems hiding the update will not stop it from coming back. I would describe this update, and the Windows 10 upgrade process as a telemarketer that want stop calling. It's down right harassing.

Yes it doesn't stop it from re-appearing but if you hide it, it won't get installed until it's offered again...

FYI. As far as I can tell, there are 3 other updates that trigger KB3035583, and you need to hide those as well:

    KB3068708 | KB3021917 | KB2952664

M$ wants all of us to install Windows Spy-10, at any cost. :D

My solution was to slipstream sp1 into win7 source years ago and disable updates entirely. Might not work for you though :D (sorry, that doesn't help you, but its nice to not have to deal with something like this)
