G'day Page, Yes you can installed the latest WinPatrol over the top of your existing version and I've been doing this for years and it's very safe.
Suggest you exit WinPatrol before over top install, there seem to still be issues. http://www.landzdown.com/winpatrol-help-information/winpatrol-patch-update-available-33-5-2015-7/
I used WinPatrol Plus for a long time, but uninstalled it a while back -- didn't think I still needed it with my current security setup. But now just wondering. . . is it still a worthwhile addition to my XP SP3 system?
Got hit by the nasty bug regarding the scheduled tasks that were all stopped or corrupt, that would only be seen after a restart, launching the task planner and getting an infinite list of errors popup. The only fix was to restore from an image backup but I want to insist on how nasty this issue was and I would have liked winpatrol publisher to send an explicit warning to their customers, if it were not for wilders or some other forum, I could have kept looking what I did wrong. It's also the first time Winpatrol causes such a mess. I am quite disappointed.

Does the program still have the horrible tiled icon in the system tray, as well as the tiled icons in the program itself?
I noticed that the newsletter i received stated that V34.11.2016.27 was available, but their forum says it is beta. http://www.landzdown.com/winpatrol-help-information/winpatrol-release-candidate/ It also looks as though there are some wacky problems with it - must be beta. The website does not indicate that it is beta. Not sure what is going on.
I went to update Winpatrol today but decided to check the forum out again (re: as ref to the above post). A thread was started by the moderator announcing V34.11.2016.27 as RC, beta. Some posters seemed confused as to whether it was still beta or not. Their website download page indicates that this version is ready for installation, however with two pages of reported problems, Corine has asked Bret to get involved as she does not think the new version is ready for prime time. The thread has been locked. It might be a good idea to wait for them to give the go-ahead before updating (and if you bought a cyber Monday license it might be a good idea to install the previous version, rather than the new one for the time being). Bret sometimes posts here, so hopefully he will do so when things get straightened out.
I have wp on a virtual pc which has FF and IE. I get no cookies on the FF but get winpatrol cookies on the IE. If i enter a piece of text that is in all cookies -example @- it should delete them all. Does not work for winpatrol cookies on IE and sometimes other cookies on IE I get cookies in IE even when not using IE?. That is why i got rid of it on the real system
