Does Maxthon have any plans for a x64 browser.

here is some con of maxthon which makes it for me to stay away.

    Cons:
Ad Infected Crapware these days. Google CSE (Commercials/Ads galore) is now the Maxthon default search engine, bringing you loads of Garbage Ads you do not want or need. When you change those settings to regular Google or other Search Engine, after a short while Maxthon changes the settings back to Adware Infected Google CSE Trash. Maxthon also adds commercial exceptions into their version of Adblock Plus. Delete those, wait a bit, and they are magically reset to allow Ads.
Avoid this POS at all costs.
    Summary:
    Maxthon + Adblock Plus + Google CSE = BUGS...BAD!

Totally false. I have been using Maxthon as my default browser (on Windows) for four years. It contains no crapware. If you are seeing ads or crapware it is probably an infection of your computer and little to do with Maxthon. I suggest running an MBAM scan. Search engines can be added or removed as needed and mine is usually set to Start Page.

As you can see, I added Start Page and DDG probably two years ago and they are still there along with the engines included in the browser as default.

I don't know of any commercial exceptions to ABP and it seems to function just the same as on Firefox. You'll need to provide examples of these to appear credible.

well googleCSE site reports that it has ad supported and will bring ads. By the way I got these from softpedia user reviews and not mine. there were more then one that said the same thing.

so does maxthon work well with every site? In the past it used to have some issues with certain sites. Also does its video downloader work on all sites incl. youtube?

Have you heard anything about plans to switch to the Edge engine?

I wouldn't believe everything you read. Some proof of what you're claiming would be nice. Otherwise you have little more than gossip.

No, AFAIK there are no plans to change from their modified version of Blink/WebKit.

I have no trouble with the sites I visit with Maxthon. I never have, which I can't claim for Firefox or Chrome. I never use any other video downloader other than FlashGot on Firefox/SeaMonkey. If Maxthon has a video downloader it must be an extension. Maxthon doesn't do extensions well and I don't use any as it has enough functions built into it. Also, Maxthon is the fastest browser I have ever used on Windows, including Chrome x64 which is its nearest rival in speed. Unfortunately, Maxthon performs badly on Ubuntu.

Yes exactly. Edge will be quite fast and will offer extensions, I can't imagine that Maxthon hasn't already thought about making the switch.

I think they're pretty happy with what they've already got. I am.

You don't have to use the cloud if you don't want to. It's not necessary to use Maxthon cloud services to actually use the browser.

I think the 'Maxthon Cloud' is only a marketing thing. It could be useful over multiple devices, but I hardly use its potential.

Yes I know your point of view. But I was just wondering if Maxthon isn't thinking about this. And I'm not even sure if it's technically possible at the moment, but I assume everyone will be able to use the Edge engine, just like with IE/Trident.

I'm guessing you'll need to ask their developers. I haven't even heard rumours of any change to the rendering engine. I'd been reading about the inclusion of ABP for two years before it became a reality. Things don't move that quickly in Maxthonville.

Yes that's why I dumped it back in 2008, for me Opera was simply the better choice. Too bad they killed Presto, more and more sites just don't work correctly anymore, I'm getting a bit tired having to switch between Firefox and Opera 12. But Vivaldi and Edge are not looking good either, at least at the moment.

2008 was a long time ago though. Maxthon has improved hugely the past couple of years. I wasn't impressed with Opera after they switched engines and Vivaldi is nowhere near ready yet. I think it may have potential though.
