I have been running Norton Security with Backup for a few months on one my laptops. But, I'm running the Norton Removal Tool right now to remove it. Despite having a fairly fast processor - Core i5 M 560, and always having plenty of RAM free, at the times the laptop is sluggish, and I suspect that Norton may well be the cause (I can't see what else would be slowing my laptop down), so I'm removing it to see if my system performs better without it. I was using the current version of Norton, as I reguarly launch live update to check for updates.

I removed it a while back on the main laptop I use due to slowdowns, but this other laptop has a much faster processor.

I originally found Norton Security to be very light, but more recent builds have caused me to remove it for the same reason.

Much appreciated, but I don't know that I am ready to deal with it yet.

Is there anyone that can give some feedback on how this is running on the Windows 10 final? I might be willing to give it a go if it is running well, but I am currently happy with another product.

Running great on my Win10. Did not even need to disable NSwB before upgrading from Win7.

Is it just me or does the latest version of NIS feel laggy? Not talking about the beta version.

How much you notice it depends on your machine. On my overclocked i7 with 16 GB of RAM and SSD RAID 0, not very noticeable, but nothing is. On my laptop, this build is noticeably slower than the previous. And competitive products. So I'm not running it. It takes what seems like an eternity (probably 20 to 30 seconds) to launch a browser. And browsing is slowed down. A lot.

Saw an interesting thread in a Chinese forum.

Setting NS22's heuristic to "aggressive" results in lower detection than "automatic".
Specifically, the sample in the thread is reported as "suspicious.cloud.5" with heuristic "automatic", while MISS with "aggressive".

Thanks for the thread in Norton forum. From the naming of the two sample, I guess that the poster is the same guy on the chinese forum (kafan).

51.la is a popular website analytic service in China. However some AV softwares block it. My NS22.5 blocks something else (also a JS) on this site, but not the 51.la one.

A little bit of ironic though, as this forum is the largest one for AV, Firewall and HIPS softwares in China.

There is very little to no presence on the Norton forums of Symantc employees on a weekend. Hopefully someone will comment in the coming week.

I will remind them again if there is no reply soon.

Their excuse seems invalid. Sure, they need to rewrite it for Firefox's upcoming new extension format, but how hard would it be to just extend the current toolbar while they are doing it?

Fair enough, I was not aware they were doing that now... I bet these vendors hate Firefox. Maybe I should give Chrome another chance and see if I can configure it to my liking.
