A desktop AV is likely only going to detect threats to the platform its installed on, not a completely different architecture.

    Try BlueStacks.

@Rolo42 Windows antiviruses routinely detect Android malware. I do not know if they have same definitions as the Android versions, but for example it quite common for Windows antiviruses to detect the exploit apk files from rooting tools.

I've only had false positives with my Titanium Backup backup so I exclude that directory. I know I don't have malware but I do have rooting, Xposed, etc. stuff in there.

I got Trend Micro on my Kindle Fire, but when it expires I plan to go to KIS since it is one year for 3 apps. Not sure how to remove Trend from the Kindle. Maybe the KIS will do it automatically.??

I wouldn't gamble with that. Amazon is a pain; their app store is sub-par (I do use it for their daily giveaways that I want). I use Titanium Backup to remove anything unwanted.

AVL makes a great engine that gets 100% at av-test.org and is used in iobit's amc.

I don't use anything on my Android tablet (Asus Nexus 7) but I might consider MBAM one day, although, as I only download from the Google repo I doubt I need anything.

I'm using Avast Free. It seems to work OK for me and I don't see it slowing the system down.
