Us old-folk do not generally mess about with VM.

No problem though with NVT ERP... user can just add java interpreters manually if need be.

Just thinking maybe add for the uninitiated...

    Debatable.

I had no problem putting ERP on "novice" computers. Then just explain how it works. Haven't had any issues.

    Hello!

If a popup is not answered in "Alert Mode" (e.g. in the absence of the user) then it means that the request is blocked, is it so?

Is "Lockdown Mode" the same as "Alert Mode", only blocks everything without popups?

    Thank you.

    @Solarlynx

Lockdown Mode has alerts by default, but you can config it to not show any balloons or notifications. Its under Settings > Notifications.

From the user manual for NVT ERP; http://novirusthanks.org/help-files/exe-radar-pro/#protection-modes

    Extract,
    1. Alert Mode: it is the default protection mode enabled and it shows the alert dialog every time an unknown process tries to run in the system.
    2. Lockdown Mode (Basic): it blocks every unknown process and it ignores processes listed in "Vulnerable Processes".
    3. Lockdown Mode (Advanced): it blocks every unknown process and it shows the alert dialog when a "Vulnerable Process" is executed (if the commandline string is not whitelisted).
    4. Lockdown Mode (Extreme): it blocks every unknown process and it blocks also processes listed in "Vulnerable Process" (if the commandline string is not whitelisted).
    5. Trust Mode: it allows any process to run, except processes present in the blacklist.
    6. Disabled Mode: the real-time protection is disabled, all processes are allowed to run and are logged in the Events tab.

I know which is your doubt exactly in this question. Your wondering if an alert pop up is not answered because you are AFK the execution is blocked no? Well the answer is yes, otherwise ERP wouldn't serve its purpose.

I think latest employs number 3.Lockdown Mode (Advanced): it blocks every unknown process and it shows the alert dialog when a "Vulnerable Process" is executed (if the commandline string is not whitelisted).

Thank you. For now I check off both "Close the notification window after:". I don't want to miss notifications.

Thank you. I'm thinking if to stay in "Alert Mode" or in "Lockdown Mode".

Thank you. Maybe Alert Mode will go for me.

Yes, you are right. So not answered alert popup is blocked. That's good. Thanks.

Who knows, is it a good idea to whitelist all programs in "C:\Windows" folder? Sometimes ERP popups about windows process from this folder. I definitely press yes.

Levels of "lockdown mode" are removed only from mouse menu...they are still to reach/set in Settings (see below)

Uninstalled with remaining registry entries cleaned, reboot then reinstall fixed the issue. Very strange.

I just started using ERP and haven't read the whole discussion. I noticed someone mentioned that ERP must be uninstalled completely before updating. My question is would all my configs remain?

Yes, you have the option to retain settings, provided you dont use a secondary uninstaller that will scan and erase left over files.

    regards.

ERP asks this on every boot. What should I do? My ERP build is 3.1.0.0 15052015.

Go into Settings > General > uncheck > Notify new version available
You'll be notified in Wilders for new build
