I'm wondering if this new beta build of Sandboxie (version 5.01) will work with Microsoft Edge.

I'm a very big advocate for Sandboxie. It's a must have for everybody.
What a superb product Tzuk created!
    Humongous Thanks to Tzuk!
I'm also very happy that Sandboxie did not disappear since Tzuk left it but...

Maybe it's only me but I have a BIG PROBLEM (a very big annoyance) with the current version (latest versions) of Sandboxie because I cannot print anything from the Internet while using Sandboxie.

What's more, that problem exist for several computers/laptops - XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1.
IT'S A BIG PROBLEM FOR ME.
Also, I doubt that Tzuk would allowed all those new versions of Sandboxie to be released without FIXING that printing problem.
In order to use a printer with my browsers, I re-installed Sandboxie v.4.16.

I now that "for security reasons" it's better not to use any Printers while browsing on the Internet, but...
I'd like to have a new version of Sandboxie with a "check-mark" choice of
"Yes, I understand the dangers of using a Printer with Sandboxie but for my convenience, I agree to lower my protection level in order to use a Printer."

    Anyway, Sandboxie v4.16 is working.

zmechys, if while running an app sandboxed, you attempt to print but cant, Sandboxie issues messages telling you exactly what to do in order to fix the problem. Follow the instructions and all will be well.

Also, I cant understand why you cant print in XP. I do all my printing in XP and to this day, despite all the changes, I haven't seen any SBIE message about printing. I havent even changed anything in XP. I print now in 5.01.1 exactly as I use to in versions 4 or 3. I don't print in my W7 but if you cant print as you have things configured, just follow the instructions in the error dialog that explains what to do to fix it.

    Hey Bo,

Whenever I do a copy/cut inside SBIE I get this message: SBIE2205 Service not implemented. CloseClipboard C0000058.
This is a real pita! What do you suggest I do?

Hi Cruise, that error is caused by installing Windows update KB3057839 from June. It got fixed in beta 4.19.2. Read changes for that beta, below.
    http://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=21235#p109806

Installing latest stable 4.20 or latest beta 5.01.1 fixes the error. Take your pick.

    Bo,

I'm a true "believer" in Sandboxie, but...
    Here is the deal.
I'm not getting ANY SANDBOXIE'S messages with instructions "What to do next".
Here is what I get on my Windows 8.1 computer. The same message appears on my Windows 7.
    SandboxieIssue.PNG

I can print from any browser without Sandboxie or from any MS Office products, etc...
The printer or printers are there, but not while I'm using new versions of Sandboxie.
Anyway, I've expressed my grievances about it.
I'm a big fan of Sandboxie and will continue to use it but in the form of version 4.16.

Bo, thanks for the heads-up (been too busy to stay current)! As I don't intend moving off of Win7 in the foreseeable future, I guess 4.20 will serve the purpose.

    Take care,
    Cruise

Thanks Bo, upgrading to 4.20 did away with that issue (as you suggested). Perhaps you can help with another SBIE issue.

I use LastPass for password management. When I first launch IE11 sandboxed, then go to a password-secured website, LastPass requests my email address and master password (which is to be expected). All works well after entering that info, BUT if I close IE and later reopen it I notice that LastPass has not retained my email & master pw and I have to re-enter it when I next visit a password-secured website! I believe this problem is SBIE-related because it does not happen when I use SD instead of SBIE for internet browsing.

How can I get around this annoyance when running IE sandboxed?

Hi Cruise, in your Internet explorer sandbox, go to Sandbox settings and allow Direct file access to the LastPass folder or file where LastPass saves email and master passwords database. I am not familiar with LastPass or password programs but that folder should be in AppData. Look for it there.

Sandbox settings>Resource access>File access>Direct access, Click Add program, select Internet explorer, Click Add, navigate to the LastPass folder in AppData and select it.

The reason the password and email information is being saved out of Shadow mode is probably because you are already excluding LastPass in Shadow defenders exclusions. Looking in your Shadow defender Exclusion list might give you a clue about the file or folder that needs to be excluded in Sandbox settings.

    Hi
    1) Does the hmpalert template in Full Access satisfy c:\windows\cryptoguard in Direct Access...?
    2) Since, the hmpalert template is in Full Access. Should c:\windows\cryptoguard also be in Full Access...?
    Thanks

Hi zmechys, you are experiencing a rare issue (printers don't show up inside the sandbox). Invincea has not been able to reproduce this problem. I know I seen at the SBIE forum, once or twice, a picture about the printer not been found, like the one you posted.

I think the good thing here is that Curt and the guys at Invincea are aware of this issue, hopefully it gets fixed soon. Workaround for now: Usually a reboot or restartng the print spooler solves the problem.

Well Bo, I tried your suggestion and I'm sorry to report - still no joy. :gack:

If anyone here is using IE11 sandboxed with LastPass (transparently) - i.e., LP performs the same as when not sandboxed, please describe your SBIE settings for LP. o_O

    Thanks,
    Cruise

I wanted to test LP for IE but it seems I have to create an account and put my email address. I really dont want to do that. But I did install the Firefox addon and LP placed a folder in AppData. Thats the folder that you would need to allow direct access to if you were using Firefox. For IE, it works the same. If I was using IE and wanted to do what you want, not only I would find the folder but would figure out the specific file where LP saves the information that has to do with remembering emails and passwords. And then allow access to that file.Trial and error a little until you figure out the file. Thats all you have to do, find the file and allow access to it. Thats how you get this done when there is no setting in sandbox settings.

There is a configuration setting for Last Pass in Sandbox settings>Applications>All applications, make sure it is ticked there or in the Software compatibility window. I doubt that whats required for your passwords to be remembered but you should tick that setting for better compatibility.

Thats a message that can be hidden and ignored when the sandboxed program still works fine. What were you running sandboxed when you got the message?
