Yes, that's correct. Either during the upgrade process or once upgrade is complete.

From what I've read, this is not the real deal. Supposedly, this is a store test where your credit does not get charged the 2 dollars because all you are getting are a generic keys to activate the preview build.

I can't speak for Microsoft as for the authenticity of the sale or how long it lasts or anything like that. But what I can confirm, though, is that it definitely does charge your credit card or PayPal the $2 plus tax. It charged mine $2.81 Canadian. I have a feeling that it is tied to Microsoft Account and also tied to hardware config, but not entirely sure because there isn't much documentation yet.

Yes, say you own a big company that has branches in 15 countries with 600 employes each you would need a volume license.

It isn't targeted to the minority who actually like and use Win8.x; it is for the rest of us who avoided Win8 because we hated it and will otherwise stick with Win7 until it reaches EOL and then some (like xp users vs. Vista). The VP of Win8 argued with users and he lost...the argument and his job.

Oh, and I seriously doubt we can get a full Win10 for $1/$2. Is there an actual announcement to go with that?

Yeah, that's the problem.. there is more speculation and unofficial this and that flying than actual facts from MS. I remain skeptical about most of it....

There is a thorough and detailed product page within the Store app.

EDIT: It appears that the product page has been pulled. Interesting. We will have to wait to see what is going on.

Yes ' Interesting' , however there appears to be a bug with the pricing of products in the Stor app today that MS is currently addressing. Today the Surfuace 3 is listed for $122,150 . Obviously incorrect.

Well they saw what happens if they'd listed it for $2!

You need to ask for a refund. There should not have been a charge. See here for a post about this.

Currently running an old Dell OptiPlex 790 geared (as in a 4 gig ram set-up) for 32-bit apps only. My big "Q" of the day is this-->> can I safely venture into Win 10 64-bit territory with my current 32-bit apps set-up? I'll lay out the mean green ($$) later if necessity warrants for the additional ram, etc. Long story short--- can I safely transition from a Win 7 Pro 32-bit operating system to the Win 10 Pro 64-bit without any glitches or flat out bricking the system? My guess is that no one will argue the point that a 32-bit op system will be obsolete within the next couple of years anyway. Immense thanks in advance for any feedback from the intelligentsia @ large.

Just upgraded to build 10159 today, and it's looking much better now. Several bugs that I noticed have been fixed. The upgrade process from 10130 to 10159 went very smoothly, no issues whatsoever. This is looking pretty nice now.

@Lagavulin16 You can't do an upgrade to a 64 bit edition of Windows from a 32 bit edition, you will need to do a clean install. If you want to keep any of your apps from the 32 bit install, you might want to consider using Laplink's PCmover, as this software lets you transfer software from one Windows install to another, and does support going fro 32 to 64 bit.

One issue in build 10159 has come up. It won't activate. I Googled and found tons of others with the same issue, and even the feedback app shows others reporting this. Anyone here running 10159 and not able to activate? Just curious. I'll wait a few days and see if it fixes itself....

You have to ensure that you use the latest keys as they have just changed recently.

Well, what's to do. Ouch! I'll dig around as I may've recalled reading somewhere else that 32-bit apps will in fact thrive in a 64-bit operating system (and definitely not vice versa!). WTF..

Ok, thanks for that. I did read that somewhere in my searching, but thought maybe it would fix itself in a day or two. I'll try the new key and see what happens.

    Thanks again!
