Can someone here bring me up to date on the Beta testing of Avira? Been away sick for awhile and I am trying to figure things out again. I loaded the testing license into my product and that worked ok. I also tried to download the Beta from the Beta sight and that was a whole new thing. I downloaded the Avira Pro and all was good exept the Antivirus said it was pending. Not sure what that was all about. I am wondering are there two testing platforms now and which one is everyone testing? Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

there is just one test platform and that the Avira Beta Center.
Get an overview of all available beta projects here and create yourself an account. Afterwards, depending on the project, you get direct access to all the latest beta versions.

Have fun testing! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

    Kind regards,
    Toni

In order to be informed in advance, change the "Action on detection" from "Automatic" to "Interactive".

Configuration -> System scanner -> Scan -> Action on detection
Configuration -> Real-Time Protection -> Scan -> Action on detection

When i go into configuration it is already set on interactive (by default?) perhaps it happend when i was away from keyboard
To me it seems that avira flagged this program as a false positif ...
I will upload some files to avira to investigate.
Edit: when i rescan objects in Quarantine they are no more suspiciuos, so it was F P

    thx.

Interesting. Installed latest CCleaner and Avira Protection Cloud scanned the set up files after installation . Found to be clean of course.

Avira Product Version 15.0.11.579 (Update 11.1) release yesterday June 25, 2015.

    In download page=
    http://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-antivirus-pro
Still says " Jun 9, 2015 EXE 213 MB" which was the description for the previous version 15.0.11.574 (Update 11).

But if you hit the download link, you actually download the installer for the latest version 15.0.11.579 which is 215 MB, see also the attached screenshot.

    It happen again=
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/avira.345492/page-142#post-2490037
    and again=
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/avira.345492/page-127#post-2458312

There is no version number in the above mentioned description, so in order to know what version you downloading actually, you have to do your math first:
Keep a log with the size in MB from the previous installers and compare the various sizes/installers!

Avira..... ridiculous [mis]information system, as usual.........

Yes, for now that is the only way to actually tell which version you are downloading... :D

I have recently been able to upgrade to Win 8.1 without any problems except for the Avira tray icon which more often than not disappears or doesn't appear at all when booting. Not a biggie in itself but it never happened on Win 8.

Hi Osaban, did you try a clean reinstall of Avira after a full removal? (With the help of the Avira registry cleaner).
I never observed that behavior on my Win 8.1.

Macstorm and Anon thanks, I have re-installed and the icon has re-appeared, I hope it'll stay there as I usually use only the tray to access Avira. Incidentally I've noticed that one doesn't have the choice to do a custom install anymore, which means all the modules are installed by default... Pity, I used to like to choose what to install...

Are you referring to the online installer (5MB) or the offline one (216MB)?
Afaik, in offline installer, the "custom install" [Modify] option is there =

    Also here=

Further to previous (#3620) post, please note:
The installer has different options for initial installation and re-installation/upgrade.
See also the attached screenshots, bothe taken with the latest offline installer (Avira Pro v.15.0.11.579).

Anon, you are right about uninstall/change although I didn't proceed to do it. On the other hand installing from the website is definitely different, it asks you if you have an account with Avira, if you don't, Avira free will be installed by default, if you do, the whole installation of Avira Pro is done very quickly without any choices except if you want to have the browser extension on to detect infected websites (I believe they call it "Safe Browsing") , which I declined. I didn't even have to enter my activation key as I have an account with Avira.

I'm not complaining, it's their prerogative to change their own installation protocol.

    @ Osaban,
That's why I always use the offline installer. ;)
