Hiltihome, thanks for your feedback (btw, nice kitty). Does Performance Mode use (solely) 360's cloud AV database?

 

In the left column:
If You click on the Icon with the flash(underlined Protection:On), a new window opens, where You can configure protection.
There are four options:
If You click on Custom, You decide yourself, what engine and what protection is enabled.

You can have both AVIRA and Bitdefender engine enabled on main page, but select only one for scanning on access.
If both engines are enabled on the main page, both engines will be used for scanning on demand.

The date of the tooltip (today) does not match the date in the first or last VDF file or the time-stamps on the VDF files; therefore I infer that the tooltip date is the date of the last successful update check.

Either something isn't working correctly or Avira is licensing delayed updates to Qihoo (my guess).

 

Yes, it's in the update.fix in the Bitdefender plugins folder. Since I don't have TS/TSE installed on this computer I can't tell you the exact loaction of where the definitions are stored.

You can check the latest version of Bitdefender's signatures here, to compare with the version TS has downloaded.

You are right. The tooltip date is the date of the last successful update check, not the date of the last actual update.

 

Hi, I want actually to disable the smart ignore function and then force some updates that have been placed on the ignore list.
Is that possible?

@Nejyth I don't think you can. I think the ones placed on the ignore list failed to install.

That's a shame because I got somme valid updates I HAVE TO install, but windows update is corrupted and everytime I check for updates
I got these messages; "last time checked for updates : NEVER" and "previously installed updates : NEVER".
I thought 360 could help because at least the updates are detected.

 

I translated the windows update messages from the windows 8.1 french version.

 

Hi, click on "Tool Box", "Patch Up" then on Patch Up gui click "Update Record", click "Ignored", check the ignored updates you want to revoke and click on "Revoke" at the bottom right.

that's what I've been doing at nauseaum. Same result, the files are placed back on on ignore through smart ignore.

 

I see, Nejyth. You may try unchecking "Turn off Windows Update" under Advanced Settings on the Patch Up Gui, and see if you can use Windows Update to update. One thing I know about the Smart Ignore Feature of 360 is that some Windows versions/builds may not be compatible with some Windows Updates (i.e. causing BSODs) and 360 will auto-detect those and put in the Ignore List.

Is this an actual firewall or just an extension of Windows Firewall like it is in AVIRA ?

Clicking the 'FIREWALL' icon, 360 Total Security starts downloading and installing the GlassWire Firewall.

 

Thanks for replying it was already unchecked.

 

I just tried version 7, and I still don't like it, so I uninstalled it a few minutes later and replaced it with Total Security Essential. For now, I'll keep installing TSE on customer's computers.

It is too agressive in removing startup items and scheduled tasks for me to install on anyone elses computer.
