You must choose an Entire Drive restore to see those Options. When you did the backup did you create an Entire Drive backup by putting the tick in the HD0 line? To do an Entire Drive restore, select your backup image and put a tick in the HD line. The two partitions will show ticks too. If you created 2 partition images instead of an Entire Drive backup, no problem. Let me know and we'll do the restore differently.

I am sure I did an entire drive backup. I suppose I can do it again.
I am booting with the image to windows boot disk, not the image for DOS boot disk. Does that make a difference? I also did the backup from within Windows.

    No, that's fine. IFW disk.

    dot in Restore (Normal)
    find your backup
On the "Select the drive or partition(s) to restore:" put a tick in HD

Do you see HD with 2 partitions below it on the above screen? Or do you see the word "Partial" at the end of the HD line?

Sorry, bad news. PartInfo is the same. OK, let's do it a different way.

    Boot your IFW disk again
in IFW, click Settings, Geometry. Make sure you have ticks in...
    Align Partitions on 1MiB Boundaries
Align MBR for BIOS Auto Mode
(there will be one greyed out tick too)

    Restore (Normal)
    Find your Entire Drive image
On the "Select the drive or partition(s) to restore:" screen
    Select the SRP only
On the "Select where to restore the partition(s):" screen...
Right click the SRP and click Delete
Right click the Win8 and click Delete
Now you only have Free Space. Select the Free Space and continue
On the Options screen only have Log Results to File selected

    Restore (Normal)
    Find your Entire Drive image
On the "Select the drive or partition(s) to restore:" screen
    Select the Win8 only
On the "Select where to restore the partition(s):" screen...
Select the Free Space under the SRP and continue
On the Options screen only have Log Results to File selected

I hope this will be the final attempt.

Good luck but I doubt it will work to fix PartInfo.

On the "Select the drive or partition(s) to restore:" screen you should have 3 empty boxes. HD and the two partitions. Remove the ticks if the boxes aren't empty and then select the SRP. You will then also have a greyed out tick in HD but Win8 won't be selected.

    For an Entire Drive backup...
On the "Select the hard drive or partitions to backup:" screen
Put a tick in HD 0
You should now see 3 ticks. HD 0, SRP and Win8.

No. Not RAW. In Options only have ticks in ..

    Omit Page File Data
    Omit Hibernation Data
    Log Results to File

Use Enhanced Speed - A compression.

ok, backup went fine. Now when I boot to the IFW boot disk, I have options to uncheck on the select drive to restore.

I have included your instructions above. I am confused at this point. Are you telling me to check srp and mbr1 (win8 part)? Then go to the next page (where to restore to) and remove the srp and win8?

then with correct options checked, do the restore?

Yes, I know it is confusing but you have to do that to get to the "where to" screen. Then you have to restore the partitions individually to Free Space. If you restore them together it won't fix the partition offset issue. Did you restore them individually as two restores?

No I didn't restore them individually. However, I did use my partition manager to resize the partitions to the point that there is not unallocated space. Do you think that will work? i used Easeus Partition master.

Guy's this business about partitions and IFW restores has taken this thread totally off topic. Please wrap it up in 2 more posts.

Still no good. The offset for the SRP is 64. It should be 63 for cylinder alignment.

For the Win8 partition, 722928 divided by 16065 is not an integer so it isn't cylinder aligned either.

Sure, see you in a new thread.
