    Try this:
    Disable A/V indefinitely.
    Uninstall Sandboxie keeping your settings
    Reboot
Install v4.18 and see what happens.

I think there's a problem with the SBIE server.....even now. You probably need to wait a little bit. But don't worry, the problem is not your installation, computer (IMO).

I can tell you a few things about the Firefox still running issue. 1. Thats a known Firefox problem that most users experience sometimes, 2. Before I started using Sandboxie, I use to close the browser by clicking File>Exit instead of clicking the red X. That got rid of the problem completely, 3. In all the years using Sandboxie, I haven't experienced this issue even once.

Well, for me. I've experienced and upon initial experience continue to experience. Happy to know you've had better luck than mine.
So, are you reporting problem is not caused by SBIE but, in fact Firefox. Any clue as to where to look in Firefox.

Oddly, as per your in the know information. When FF not sandboxed. I do not have 'FF still running' issue. 'FF still running' started with v4.17.x Ah, but as you say. Not related to SBIE.

bjm, use Google and search for "Firefox still running°
    http://www.howtogeek.com/131004/how-to-fix-the-firefox-is-already-running-error/?PageSpeed=noscript
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-already-running-not-responding

I suggest you follow the solutions given in the above links or better yet:
Try my suggestion, click File>Exit, instead of clicking the red X. See if that fixes the issue for you, it did for me when I was not a SBIE user. Or try getting used to deleting contents manually.

Um, I do delete manually. No forced. No auto delete.

    thanks for links...
When FF not sandboxed. I do not have 'FF still running' issue.

You can also make Firefox a Leader program. If that don't help, see what exes are lingering in the sandbox when you close Firefox.

Wow, Leader program...? First I'm hearing...Leader. Should I consult SBIE FAQ's
I'm searching SBIE now for 'Leader program'.
    OK...I've found Leader Programs. I'll try....Thanks.

Go to Sandbox settings>Program stop>Leader program, Click Add program, Click firefox.exe.

Interesting. I'm always opening an empty box afaik... and feel FF still running only upon call for new FF window with FF sandbox'd.

I don't know what you mean by that, above.
I can open Firefox in more than one sandbox at the same time....with no Firefox still running glitch. Look below.

I do not doubt what you can do. So, rest easy. You do not have to prove your skills to me.
I applaud and bow to your knowledge base.

You prompted some exe might linger as related. So, I'm reporting. I'll open one empty FF sandbox and calls for new windows always used to open un-sandbox'd FF window as FF is default.

bjm, I am not sure what you mean in your post above. But no exe should linger. None does for me in my Firefox sandbox when I close Firefox. And have never experience the issue you are having since becoming a SBIE user more than 6 years ago. I am giving you ways that SBIE can help but this is a Firefox problem. I cant do no more.

I don't have that problem with FF, but then the way I close is right click on the sys tray icon, and just use terminate all programs. That works very well

We got on to linger only because you prompted Leader. I'm not aware of lingering either. Wonder why SBIE even needs a Leader setting. I do not question your 6 year experience. I do not question your veracity. Seems, however you question mine. When Mods delete this as off topic. Know that my dialog is not personal.
Just because you haven't ...doesn't establish global 'truth'. You made your assertion it's FF. I countered. Not in the know. I'm not feeling 'issue' with FF not sandbox'd. Guess, it's he said. He said. Regards.

I give you an example. If you run a PDF in your Firefox sandbox using Adobe Acrobat Reader, acrord32.exe does remain running even after you close the PDF or Firefox. By setting Firefox as a leader program, acrord32.exe should terminate as you close Firefox.

I've added Firefox to Linger after I did a full text search. Not in the know. As never knew I needed Firefox to Leader.

Update: set FF as default again. Tested call for new window Online Help with FF as Leader and Firefox sandbox running. Issue remains. Firefox still running.

Firefox not sandbox'd. Homepage open. Call for Online Help opens new FF window. No problem
