~ Removed Off Topic Remarks ~ I've tried avast...would be good for average user..but heavy. Stick with NOD32.;) I'll keep BD FREE as it does well on my machine...but we know that no 2 machines are the same.:thumb: Since you already have the NOD32 liscence, Id use it and see what happens. There are several threads here about NOD32. Guess I'm the only BD FREE user left...must not do well for others...great on my machine...will keep it going with an eye out for problems you mentioned, Cheers!:):D

I too like Bd free. Excellent protection & no maintenance.
It was light here too on the system. The only thing was sometimes slow website rendering/page cannot be disaplyed & sometimes downloads window appearing late & downloads starting late & download speed affected.
If a new version arrives, will definitely try it.

Over the past year or so, we have been using BD-Free on our 6 year old family PC. It has proven to be a very capable 'plug & play' AV and very light on resources. It just needs to be augmented with identity protection software, which is what I've been checking into.

As a follow-on the my post above, 5 days ago I installed MBAE-free to complement BDAV-Free and they have been behaving nicely (no apparent conflict and just a little surfing slowdown) Imho they make a good free 'install it and forget it' combo. :thumbd:

BD FREE works well with MBAM PREMIUM and Emsisoft E.E.K. No impact on my system...no complaints.

If it works fine on your system then you will like it.
And I find it better than Panda protection & the best in free AVs.
On my 2 Win 7 64 laptop it works fine.

As of 5/25/... And according to the app's logs... "Bitdefender performed a product update." Nice to see I guess. New version update? No change log? Yeh, the app may not be perfect in terms of tweaking options... but I'll settle for this any day over those brave hearts that sail across the internet, etc., with nary a thought of AV/A-malware protection.

When offline, the local signatures will protect you for 90%+ threats; false positives may appear.
For full protection, it's recommended/mandatory to have an Internet connection

We use the cloud version of the same BD engines used in Internet Security and Bullguard

Bug found, logs button doesn't work anymore, it seems more of these issues found on the internet (google)

The product update isn't related to the application version number which is Gonzales cloud service version, gzserv.exe.

I know BD recently updated some AVC components. And you'll probably see the product update message if the core engine or IDS libraries/drivers are updated.

This post 3075 has some useful info:

Actually, BD rarely goes more than 3-4 hours without a signatures update. Over the years, the average is every 1.5 hours.
