Raza0007, on the OpenH264 Video Codec plugin, I found this Support post answer, and it sounds reasonable to me:
Regarding the Adobe Primetime CDM plugin, while there's no Ask to Activate option, IMO in a sense my above Post screen capture is a way of asking to activate the plugin, but it's only shown on sites that have DRM content. Like you, I can't find any "official" word on this subject.

Thanks JR, I have put both these plugins on "Never Activate" for the time being. I will activate them when needed, but currently I do not foresee their immediate need.

Raza0007, you're welcome! I have done the same thing myself. Take care.

FWIW, I see some signs that Georg Fritzsche was the UX guy for OpenH264 and his replies to questions on that were:

    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1007694
    https://groups.google.com/d/msg/firefox-dev/ncH56yue2-o/AJpiXJodyv4J
It looks like he is also the engineer responsible for the CDM plugin UX. So while the approach was (and still may be) "no ask to activate for GMPs", which originally included OpenH264 and now includes Adobe CDM, at least he appears to appreciate that automatic/unexpected triggering is a problem and you want a more granular choose to activate feature implemented at some level. Given that a new type of unique identifier and storage location were created to support node locking in EME/CDM contexts, the importance of that could be said to have increased. No bug report I can find so far, but I'm thinking there should be.

Regarding the NodeID, two places of interest would be:

    https://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-release/source/dom/media/gmp/GMPService.cpp#1221
    https://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-release/source/dom/media/gmp/GMPLoader.cpp#138

Seems like they may be trying to not only address the issue in private browsing mode, but also support deletion in the typical browsing mode:

Bug 1111787 - "Forget This Site" command should clear EME salt values associated with the forgotten origin
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1111787

Bug 1111788 - "Clear Recent History" command should clear salts and associated origin pair mappings created during
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1111788

BTW, thanks for that followup JRViejo.

Thank you for the detailed research into this matter. I sort of understand what they are trying to say why these plugins do not have "ask to activate" associated with them, but I think it is a bad move on their part because right now I have put these on "never activate", and if majority of others do the same, then it defeats the whole point of including these plugins in Firefox in the first place.

I must say while I prefer the layout of the old Options window compared to the new Option tab, I actually prefer the new tab because if the old Options window was opened, you could not do anything else in Firefox until it was closed, now that problem is gone.

The thing I hate about the new "reduced" window size in Security>Saved Passwords, is that it only renders part of a domain's name. I realize you can use the search field. Is there a means to render this in full screen? I haven't read this whole thread. Is this new format for security purposes? Thank you!

I haven't read anywhere that displaying settings in a tab has anything to do with security. The tab option has actually been available for a while. After trying it I decided to switch back to the separate window mode.

Regarding passwords I use LastPass which claims that the Firefox password manager is insecure. I don't know what they base that statement on, but FWIW LastPass offers significantly more functionality for the same price :)

If you mouse-over the corner of the saved passwords screen, you can stretch it like with normal windows.
Btw, unless you use a master password, all your Firefox passwords are saved in plain-text. Even if you do use a master pw, a separate password manager is still safer. I prefer KeePass for that.

Oh, thank you so much for that, as I couldn't figure out what tab option to change. I don't keep any financial passwords, mostly just forums and websites. I do use keypass for the important information!

FYI. Bug 1165732 - Firefox running very slow on Windows starting with version 38 due to hardware acceleration.

Looks like it will be fixed when 38.0.5 moves from Beta to RC, possibly tomorrow.

Regarding this new pocket feature it is not activated by default. Is there an option to activate in the UI? I couldn't find one, so resorted to google search.
