In the 'My Rules' tab of uBlock, there are two panes: Permanent Rules and Temporary Rules. It looks like for every Permanent rule I have listed in the Penmanent pane, that same rule is listed in the Temporary pane. Is that the way it's supposed to be? Are all of those Temporary rules supposed to be there, or can they be deleted (if they also exist in the Permanent Rule side)?

Yes, that's how it is supposed to be, the temporary pane contains merely duplicates of your permanent pane in a grayish color, the real temporary rules there (if you have some) should be black, (there's an empty row in the permanent pane next to them to show that these are only temporary) and ready to be merged when you want them permanently, or revert if you want all your real temporary rules to be forgotten about.

Is uBlock compatible with Sandboxie when it comes to saving noop rules? I thought it was, but I recently started using Firefox 37 and have noticed that when under Sandboxie, sometimes noop rules don't actually last after that current session. So, when I go back to that same site again, I need to re-noop them.

Do I need to do something in Sandboxie to give uBlock direct access?

Hi Tom. If allowing direct access to ublock.sqlite doesn't save noop rules out of the sandbox, then allowing direct access to prefs.js should get it done. Many Firefox addons saves settings, etc, in that file. You ll find this file inside your Firefox profile folder. For safety, set it up so only sandboxed Firefox have access to prefs.js.

Thanks, Bo. Unfortunately, I can't remember just how to do this in Sandboxie. Can you give me some help. Thanks so much.

    You are welcome, Tom.

Go to Sandbox settings>Resource access>File access>Direct access, Click Add program, select Firefox, Click Add, navigate to your Firefox profile folder (inside AppData>Roaming) and select prefs. Since I don't use Ublock, I cant check if this works. prefs save some settings for some addons but not everything.

If allowing access to prefs doesn't save out of the sandbox what you want, try to determine which Ublock file saves the information when rules are created by looking at the time stamp in Ublock files: 1. Create a rule while running Firefox sandboxed, don't close the browser, 2. Using Windows explorer, navigate to the Sandbox folder in C drive and look at the time stamp of files pertaining to Ublock. The one that has an immediately recent time stamp is the one you would need to allow Direct access to.

Still, no success. I'm currently using uBlock 0.9.6. Can someone tell me for sure in what Firefox file (FF 37.0.2) 'noop' rules are stored. Thanks.

As you're using uBlock Origin try allowing direct access to:
    Code:
    \extension-data\ublock0.sqlite
    \extension-data\ublock0.sqlite-journal

WOW! Thanks -- I think that was it (ublock0.sqlite). I forgot I had given SBIE Direct Access to ublock.sqlite from before uBlock split into two forks and Gorhill's version became Origin.

    uMatrix ported for FireFox....

The first Firefox build of uMatrix has been created by Gorhill on Github. The release is dubbed a "very early preview" and users are asked not to file feature requests currently.
The Firefox version of uMatrix is currently only available on Github from where you can download and install it in the browser.

    ghacks for more:

Is there any talk about creating ublock for android? (As a stand-alone app, to block other apps' ads)

Any chance of uMatrix development for Safari? Same goes for ublock origin.

  15. uBlock origin past the million installs, congrats to GorHill :thumb:

    Privacy notice
When you are concerned about privacy, origin is the better choice, since more people are using it, making your browser fingerprint less unique :D

When you use Chrome you could enable 'Send a "Do not track" request' and use the following switches (info from Peter Beverloo)
    --no-pings (don't send hyperlinks audits)
--no-referrers (don't send HTTP referrer headers)

    Regards Kees

@gorhill Umatrix blocked this ad with my rules(see signature) but I disabled it to see if Ublock Origin would block the ad and it did not with my rules(see signature) and it did not. The site is: < http://www.audiocastle.me/ >

OK, you lost me completely. For any issue with uBlock (and not 3rd-party filter lists), best is to file an issue on Github.

The issue is Ublock Origin not blocking an ad I was just giving you my list in Umatrix just in case, and the filters are the ones I use in both Ublock Origin and Umatrix so you can try to reproduce. Forget the Umatrix part I was just saying it is the only thing that blocks the ad. Ublock Origin does not block it with default list + Spam 404 + all privacy list+ all the social blocking list + ad block warning removal list + anti-adblock killer.:)

Tried to reproduce this on Chromium with ABP and i'm seeing the same ads, next i tried UO with default settings/filters and again the same ads are there, Blocking however the ajax.googleapis.com on UO seems to fix the issue and the ads are gone now.
