i've participated in a number of their betas over the years, and i've mostly gotten responses to complete bug reports (ones that include requisite fsdiag report and steps to reproduce) again, it's not really a product beta as much as it is a proof of concept / sdk beta (this is stated in the participation agreement). they're trying out new concepts to see whether they're worth pusuing and adding to their actual product line in the future.
Well, they have a feedback option integrated in the program. Why have it if not use it? Anyway, I was just wondering if the project is still active. Hydra engine is updating several times a day, but just that.
There was also a core update on 2015.02.04 as well, so it is proceeding normally. They did state in a separate thread that they had to work on other projects before the holidays and are now back working on the beta again.
Hi all! We're happy to announce that we've now introduced 32-bit support to our ULAV Beta product. We have updated the installer to support both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. When you run the installer, it will detect the system architecture it is being run on and automatically install the appropriate product. As usual, the installer is available through our beta program at: https://beta.f-secure.com/project/v...typeid={AD368E29-0D8E-40AE-A70C-38D47F99BDAD} Thanks again for all your support (and patience). -- F-Secure Ultralight Anti-Virus Team
webroot is probably the slowest security software I have used, even slower than comodo and that takes some doing. I am still baffled why people in 2016 look at memory usage of the scanner process and use that as a measurement for lightness, it means nothing. To me lightness is judged by overhead on the system compared to without that security software installed. Since webroot monitors all activity its heavy. I was interested at first in f-secure but that lack of tweaks and not been a standalone product put me off, also I find it alarming lately that anti virus vendors are secretive about what their apps are doing, e.g. in nod32 a/v I keep exploit blocker and advanced memory scanner off as I dont know what they do.
They basically do what the feature name implies. You can read some about what each product features do on the following link, not all of them are included in NOD32 though, but both EB and AMS that you have disabled are included in NOD32: www.eset.com/int/about/technology/ And afaik, no vendor publish detailed info about how their product works exactly, especially as it can give the bad guys clues how to get around and pass the product. I also find it funny that customers chose to disable essential features without knowing how it affects the products detection&protection abilities. Others disable LiveGrid cause they believe the vendor use it to "spy" on them, oh well, do as you like, each to there own and so forth. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...rus-and-eset-smart-security-version-9.380948/ Let's keep the discussion about ESET in the ESET V9 thread to not make this thread go off-topic as this one is about F-Secure Ultralight.
ok I replied in the right place, if you wish to reply, my post is here https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thre...security-version-9.380948/page-4#post-2557232.
