By the way, I would like to thank the Adguard team for finally finalizing the Mac release. https://blog.adguard.com/en/mac-os/official-adguard-for-mac-release.html Now I can use this on my Windows and Mac machines. Thank you all for your hard work
AG for Win blocks translations in Google Translate. If you paste a text it doesn't translate. Needs an urgent fix.
Any plans on changing the name of "Spartan" to "Edge", under Settings, Browser? @avatar Not sure if you're aware, but Microsoft has officially changed the browser name to Edge
Visually, as far as ad blocking goes, they both get the job done equally well. However, filtering kernel/network level is significantly more efficient.
Yeah, I know. We have just released the new version with Spartan support and in a couple of days they change the name For now you can add it the browsers list by adding two executable files from the Edge browser folder.
@denniz An update on revoked.grc.com issue. We have fixed it in Adguard v6 branch, but it's really too hard to merge it back to Adguard v5. So there're two options now: if we'll be able to release v6 alpha in the end of may, we won't spend time on merging it back. If we fail to do this, we'll do it and release one more patch for Adguard v5.
@avatar OK here's my feedback from using AG for Win. 1. To my surprise browsing is faster comparing to using Chrome extension. 2. GUI is ugly. Not user friendly, it looks like being created in the late 90', chaotic settings, a lot of deeply nested settings. On the other hand the extension is nice and poses a modern look. 3. Lack of display of number of blocked ads comparing to the chrome extension. 4. The systray icon isn't so nice as the extension's badge. 5. Lack of advanced filtering log as it is in the extension. 6. Log cannot be opened in the separate window, so making it hard to work with. While my above feedback may sound negatively (yes, as regards visual side) I'm satisfied with the Win version as it is fast and efficient.
@pegas all that you've said about v5 is true. And we have already taken that into account in Adguard v6.
@avatar Right mouse click on the systray icon brings menu and there is an option Updates with sub-menu but sometimes it is opened on the left side and sometimes on the right side. Please unify it to open this sub-menu only on the right side.
On 4shared when I try to download a file the waiting time increases from 20 sec. to 1000 sec. because 4shared notices that a adblocker is active. I use only the standard Adguard filters. Russian filter English filter Dutch filter Filter for useful ads
If you've already register a free account on 4shared to reduce the 1000 sec to 20 sec just create and add a new filter to Adguard : Copy, paste and import this code to user filter in Adguard, no more 1000 sec waiting. @@||4shared.com/show_ad* I have attached the txt file Rules.
@Dhelpvhuen ,sorry for that, i never experienced this problem cause when i want to import/add my own filter, i always edit my *.txt files and added some new filters after, so when i use the import function all the list is still there. @avatar, excellent!. Rules.
I constantly get these errors when I boot. Event ID 7026 - The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: adgnetworktdidrv. Any reason why? Windows 7 64b.
Please answer some questions: 1. Do you have "Use WFP network driver" option enabled or disabled? 2. Do you have "adgnetworktdidrv.sys" file in the System32 folder? My guess is that you were using TDI driver but then have switched to WFP (or maybe AG has done it with update). While doing the switch AG has deleted TDI driver file but it has failed to uninstall it properly. To fix this: switch back to TDI, reboot, switch again to WFP and reboot once again.
