That's an unusual mystery surrounding the license renewal for versions that are still supported by Avira and I'll explain the reason. I tried to contact the Customer Service two times some days ago. The first answer via email (SUP #46560) from someone called Adela B. (for privacy reasons I'm preserving her last name) told me that if I renew the current license for AIS 2013, then I would receive the upgrade for the AISS 2015, through an update over the license (extending time), once the license would also suffer an upgrade. However, another late answer via email (got yesterday) from someone called Lucian F. (SUP #46513) told me that if I renew my AIS 2013 license, I can keep the current installation (there would be no migration and this Avira technician seemed to be more comprehensive). So, what is the right answer? I hope that Toni or Stefan be able to answer us about this question that I'm trying to know since last Monday. It's crazy.
if a mod wants to chime and i let me know if its okay i can post a screen shot of where it says this in my email directly. of course with no personal info shown. normally posting email here is against the rules but im happy to if its okay.
Marfabi the 2nd answer is correct. You won't be forced to upgrade if your license is extended by a renewal process. Also if there is no reason to skip an upgrade we're strongly recommend to run a upgrade. Yours, Arthur
Hi Arthur, Thanks for your reply. Well, when clicking to renew and following some steps it opens a page to buy a license for Avira Internet Security Suite (Shopping Cart). So, even appearing this page with AISS 2015, will it renew (extending) the current license for AIS 2013?
Hey, Well to be honest, I don't know what kind of page you exactly see? Maybe you could provide me a screen and I'm getting in touch with the sales guys and clear up all open points for you?
Avira has been performing pretty much nothing short of stellar lately via AV-C, etc.. across the board of testing agencies. Would anybody care to venture if the freebie would fare as well vs the Pro edition? I may be in the market shortly for a strictly AV/AM app. Way not interested in additional firewalls, sandboxes, system optimizers, browser add-on junk, toolbar funk, etc. Just need a killer freebie AV/AM app that will fill in, in the unlikely possibility that SD, SB, and Spyshelter Firewall with Chrome ublock & umatrix may be remiss. Too many thank you's in advance to enumerate. To any specific replies, thanks nonetheless!
Avira Free & Paid use the same engine and VDF Avira Free is without Web Protection & Mail Protection. Anyone know what is going on with the iOS Avira app for iPhones? I installed it and it was working and then suddenly it stopped working and now it is gone from the App Store - it is still on Avira's website??

Letting Avira manage Windows firewall, would it enable outbound traffic control? I currently have the firewall module disabled, I wonder what does it add/do to the Windows firewall...
Thank you, very informative. I see you cross-stroked the "Advanced real time protection" feature in the AV Pro as compared to Free AV. So does it mean the free av also has advanced real time protection? In the link you provided it still lists as one of the differences of Pro and Free, which appears to be meaning no advanced real time protection in the Free. What am I missing here?
Yes (APC: Avira Protection Cloud, Intelligent Repair System, Browser Safety & detection update frequency is set on 2 hours, same as Avira Antivirus Pro). = https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/avira.345492/page-90#post-2395053 http://www.avira.com/en/press-details/nid/923/news/avira-free-antivirus-all-in & & http://news.thewindowsclub.com/avir...d-protection-intelligent-repair-system-67697/ & http://malwaretips.com/threads/avira-protection-cloud-can-someone-confirm-this.32203/ -----------------------------
Thanks a lot for the detailed info, I really appreciate it. Kudos go to Avira also for providing such a great product to us all.
It depends on the source and time of the purchase, please send us the key over PM to give a specific answer.
I am not clear on the limitations of the Avira Free in regard to web protection. What does the paid version do that the free version does not do? Does the new Browser Safety extension for Firefox do some of these things?

Please try the following: Go to Avira's configuration and under "General" -> "Security" uncheck the "Protect processes from unwanted termination" option -> click "Apply" - > click "OK" -> Reboot -> Start a new update.
