Running EAM with beta downloads enabled in concert with MBAM pro, Spyshelter firewall, Sandboxie, Shadow Defender.. running as smooth as chocolate ice cream with the impending Arizona summer days. (Can't wait to bolt to a city that actually matters next year---> Seattle or Miami!! Gotta let those oysters on the half-shell speak for themselves after all.) Keep up the great work, Emsisoft.. to Fabian, et al.. you guys are the bomb.
BTW, Looks like updating in version 10 build seems rather difficult as I get way too many connection errors Code: Emsisoft Internet Security - Version 10.0 Update log Start Date End Date Result Type 14/04/2015 20:37:20 14/04/2015 20:38:45 Connection error Manual update 14/04/2015 19:49:42 14/04/2015 19:51:07 Connection error Automatic update 14/04/2015 19:13:33 14/04/2015 19:13:59 Update successful Automatic update 14/04/2015 18:56:40 14/04/2015 18:56:40 Connection error Automatic update 13/04/2015 21:15:37 13/04/2015 21:15:37 Connection error Automatic update 13/04/2015 20:39:36 13/04/2015 20:39:36 Connection error Automatic update 13/04/2015 19:13:33 13/04/2015 19:13:56 Update successful Automatic update 13/04/2015 19:13:08 13/04/2015 19:13:08 Connection error Automatic update 12/04/2015 23:23:29 12/04/2015 23:23:29 Connection error Automatic update 12/04/2015 20:13:33 12/04/2015 20:13:41 Update successful Automatic update 12/04/2015 19:38:42 12/04/2015 19:38:42 Connection error Automatic update 12/04/2015 18:46:49 12/04/2015 18:46:49 Connection error Automatic update
@marzametal A few editions back, SSF was giving a bit of a fit with SD (of all apps, what a surprise). A quick folder exclusion wrapped that problem up. Not sure it's still necessary with the most recent builds. Other than that, no system delays or any other hiccups whatsoever.
Ashampoo has a ridiculously good deal involving Emsisoft Anti-Malware. Full licenses for eight different software programs for $19.99, one of which is EAM. Link to the deal below. https://www.software-of-the-month.c...n-us&xsource=Ash-NC&&utm_campaign=newschannel
I love Emsisoft Anti Malware, but does anyone realize the this product have cleaning up issues for a while now & i don't really get why it is not a priority. Does anyone has any input on this matter? Prevention is great but cleaning leaves a bad taste.
I've only used it in one cleaning effort and I also used hitman Pro. From my perspective I don't really care about cleaning, I care about it preventing the need to clean, and I feel it does a great job on that. Pete
All malware we add is cleaned properly. Actually our normal analysis process includes infecting a whole bunch of test machines and testing both detections as well as removal of said infection. So we constantly do upgrade our removal capabilities. There is one exception to that: We won't touch file infectors. Mostly because due to the fact the majority of these file infectors work it is impossible to restore a file properly. This is mostly due to the fact that file infectors will overwrite parts of the file they infect without creating proper backups of the original values. So while it is in theory possible to cut out the virus body and get a file that may work in the end, this cleaned file will not be the same as the original file from before the infection took place. This may not sound like a big deal, but it can cause a lot of very subtle bugs due to broken digital signatures and integrity checks. If you come across an infection that we don't clean properly, feel free to send us logs and samples associated with the infection and we will update our cleaning engine accordingly. There are two major changes: The old "Smart Scan" essentially included a ton of files that were irrelevant for the scan. It included everything within the Windows and the Program Files directories for example, which is kind of pointless given that most current malware doesn't target either of those locations. The new "Malware Scan" still works with a list of locations to include in a scan, but instead of 3 very broad hard-coded locations, it uses an update-able list of about 70 very specific locations to scan. This allows us to skip a lot of the files in locations we know are not targeted by malware. If malware ever starts to target a location that isn't in the list, we can also just update the list via a normal signature update. In addition to this we also reworked how the scan engine reads files from disk. The result here is that we read about 90% less data per file on average, greatly increasing scan performance in general. Combine both changes and you end up with a scan that is much more accurate than the old Smart Scan was and finishes in a fraction of the time. On my system the new "Malware Scan" finishes in about 15 - 20 seconds.
I'm still getting heaps of connection endpoints when updating EAM... v9.0.0.5066 The # grows and grows as the update starts and continues. Then about a minute after I close the update screen, they start to disappear in chunks. I counted approx 170 not long ago during an update, via a lil' app called TCP View from Sys Internals. I think I read somewhere here a while back that this issue was rectified? ... or did I dream this up? lol.
Well, after not showing that it updated, I decided to reboot, and then it showed that it had installed. Spoiler: screenshots
I have been getting v10 betas since they started releasing them. You do have to enable that in the settings. Spoiler: screenshot
Dear Fabian, I have an unrelated to the present conversation question. I just upgraded from EAM to EIS. Everything went smooth except that I have lost my ability to go into Sleep Mode. I contacted Support and they tell me it's a known issue and I should use Hibernate or turn off the monitor and wifi if I want to conserve power. OK I will live with it, but can you tell me if this issue is being dealt with in version 10? Thanks
Is there any way to get a longer trial version of anti malware? a lot of virusscanners fail within a few months on my system 30 days is not enough time to evaluate for me (previous failures are kaspersky, bitdefender and comodo)
Few days of testing should be more than enough.... Make sure to run all your installed software after EAM was installed in order to avoid compatibility/whitelisting issues and go to malc0de/cleanmx/malwaretips to test it against malware.
Plus there are numerous ways to get licenses for free. For example: http://blog.emsisoft.com/2011/10/20/tec111020/ http://support.emsisoft.com/topic/9...w-language-or-update-an-existing-translation/ We also grant free licenses to people who report problems and help us fix them as a lot of the forum visitors here can surely confirm . Even if you are running into trouble, we almost always manage to work out a solution in our users' interest, even outside the 30 day refund period. Oh, and there may or may not be a really nice special deal for the new version 10 of EAM/EIS that may or may not be released in the next couple of days. But I didn't tell you that .
