... before it is asked. No more full installers, only web installers due to potential issues with AV signature updates. Also ZA+AV free version is discontinued, so keep the old installer if you still want to use it. Yes, new build of the Kaspersky SDK engine.
Good Evening! Fax! Do you still have to contend with installing or not installing the Zone Alarm Toolbar? And have you used the updated version is it lighter on System resources. Also on the A/V Pro...are the updates delayed due to Kaspersky's Servers? Sincerely...Securon
Here I never see the toolbar as it is not compatible with IE11+Win8 (i.e. off by default at install), updates are released to ZA as soon as released to Kaspersky servers, little or no delays that I aware of. On top anyway, they first gets into the cloud therefore you are instantly protected. Note that this version is not anymore at main ZA website, only via the release history not directly accessible from main ZA pages. I would wait for the official release before install it. Cheers, Fax
Good Morning! Thanks for your update Fax! Having admittedly been a Zone Alarm user in the past...I'm thinking of purchasing a license of the new version. Now the obvious question is when do you think the Official release will be available at the ZA Website? Sincerely...Securon
Good Morning! Fax! If I purchase Version 13.3.052.000...does it have the Kaspersky SDK Engine? Protection is obviously my main concern...and when the new version is available does it notify you...or is it an automatic process? Sincerely...Securon
Yes, 13.3 has the kaspersky engine. Automatic update will take a long time before it is released (normally). The best is to check the ZA website or the forum for the announcement of a new version. Some best practise to avoid problems: Install with an active internet connection, use the web installer, so that you will avoid some painful time to update the AV signature afterwards. During install go with "custom settings" and uncheck all options about toolbar and homepage, best to leave the rest at default. Once installed turn ON "riskware detection" in the antivirus advance settings (its off by default). After few days move to "max" the application control. That's it, keep the rest at default to have a set-and-forget experience. All ZA products have 30 days trial period, use it all before purchase.
Good Afternoon! Fax! Many thanks for your timely info! I'll take it for the 30 day test drive. Sincerely...Securon
Good Afternoon! Fax! Currently in the Zone...everything straightforward in install. When chosing 30 day Trial...the boxes for the Toolbar and default browser were unchecked...which is convenient. Only observation is that the Scanning scheduler could be a little more full featured...meaning some other apps let you choose any weekday or weekend. Zone Alarm only provides daily or monthly scanning usually every three months. Somewhat limiting. Maybe the design team could change the Gui Scheduler for Future Versions. So far everything's Far Out and Groovy. Sincerely...Securon
What do you mean with that? I downloaded yesterday the pro zasetupweb installer v.13.4.261.0 from their main page, isn't this the latest version?
You know I am using the free firewall and I ran a scan with Zemana and this was the results. zonealarmEng.dll Status : Scanned Object : %programfiles%\check point software technologies ltd\zonealarm\1.8.29.17\zonealarmeng.dll MD5 : 529764513CEFE49D004CE5385E65DCEE Publisher : - Size : 589824 Version : 1.8.29.0 Detections : Eset: a variant of Win32/Toolbar.Montiera.A application Cleaning Action : Quarantine Traces : File - %programfiles%\check point software technologies ltd\zonealarm\1.8.29.17\zonealarmeng.dll I also removed the toolbar from firefox. Every time you open firefox malwarebytes pro would block a site.
If it's the removal tool for their internet security product I'd advise caution. I tried the new latest ZAIS Extreme when it was introduced. I removed it with their removal tool. Totally borked my PC and had to do a complete reinstall of Windows 8.
There is always some catastrophic example on how things can go wrong with all security tools. Personally I have used the removal tool since it existed and never ever needed to reinstall the OS. Please note that the removal tool need to be used only if the standard removal did not work. Never use it as first method of uninstall, always uninstall via the OS first. Also watch out to download the removal tool only from the source (i.e. Zonealarm servers) as the tool receive updates very often.
I think they are valid at least within 2-3 cycles of main versions. E.g. now we are at 13, you should have no problem with version 10 or 11 keys. But this is just my experience. I believe anyway you could contact customer support and ask for a key replacement if you have problems.
