I've never seen Installer Button....what setting is required to see Installer Button.
What I do is...turn VS Off for installs. If I forget VS reminds me. I have three other programs I have to re-set for installs. So, one more is no burden. The three other programs have Lockdown Mode. So, I'm reminded when something comes knocking.

Here is a version that fixes the Smart Mode / OFF blocks... VS was blocking all of AppData and ProgramData, when really it should have only been blocking folders like Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc.. This will actually fix a lot of issues with blocks that some people were experiencing.

Also, there is a new feature that auto detects when the user goes to Control Panel / Programs and features, and asks them if they would like to disable VS (if VS is ON). We need to add this feature to several different Windows features, such as System Restore, etc. So if you guys have any ideas on what other Windows features or programs we should add to this, please let me know.

I should be able to catch up on the posts that I missed tomorrow, thank you!

Chrome Settings / Show Advanced Settings (at the bottom of the page) / Uncheck "Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed".

The only One I know might be helpful is if the user goes to uninstall a program. That would remind them to disable VS before they begin uninstalling an application.

I don't understand. I thought anything from appdata, or programdata should be blocked if not on the whitelist. It would be easy to get infected if executions were allowed in appdata, or programdata folders. Maybe you could clarify tomorrow. I'm sure it's been a long day; get some rest Dan.

Presently, I am running v2.50 which updated automatically from v2.31j, yesterday. Why, do I keep getting a popup about Locking/unlocking VS? I don't understand, because I thought it you disable VS, after ten minutes you get the warning to activate VS, which you can do, or keep it disabled for a further ten minutes, or until you resume activation when you choose.

I wish I could answer your question tarnak, but I don't have to deal with any of that because of the settings I use. I have never received a messages like that. I hate being reminded to enable VS protection so I disabled all of that. Below are the settings I use. Are you set on keeping the reminder enabled?

Hello, I am running the free version at the moment, because I don't want to worry about custom settings. There have been so many betas in the last few months or so, that seem to work some problems out, but then introduce new problems.

You said you are not receiving the alert in 10 minute intervals like it should. How often are you getting the alert?

I think you misunderstand me, because the one I am seeing often is the one shown above. This one only shows when I manually disable VS.

Yes, I did misunderstand you. I have never gotten that alert before. That is strange indeed. You definitely should not receive any alert as soon as you disable VS.

Yeah, already n' always un-checked. Agree, something holding Chrome background running and VS is simply notes Chrome status.

Does Automatically reactivate when returning make a difference on your machine ? What is the setting supposed to do. I have timer boxes un-checked as well as Automatically reactivate un-checked. VS still toggles red blue / blue red. Except for once is awhile browser hold VS Blue.

WSA updates are now going thru without any blocks, and I did remove that allowance. not sure how it resolved itself, but all is well. I noticed VS added a command line as follows: "c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe" shell32.dll,control_rundll inetcpl.cpl,,0 . is that command line ok?

    Hi Dan

Thanks so much for letting give it a spin. You were right, it was a bit too much.

It was just a general comment, based on the replies that I get to see in this thread. I'm not trying to say that other tools are better, that depends on what a user expects from a tool. But perhaps I did get the wrong idea, because some other experienced users say that VS is not complex and "chatty" at all.

I will see if I can install it on a VM, but I first need to fix a couple of things on my PC.

It made a difference on my machine. VS did not toggle when I unticked that option when launching my web browser in Smart Mode. It is meant to make VS toggle it's protection protection on, and off when opening, and closing web applications. I'm not sure this feature is really needed. Why would I not want my protection to toggle to ON when I open a web application in Smart Mode. If I don't want my protection enabled then I should use the Disable Protection option by right clicking on the taskbar icon.

Makes perfect sense to me. You raise a valid point. That's why I un-checked the top four. Somehow my VS toggles. Bizarre.
Why would I not want my protection to toggle to ON... agree. Maybe there's a corp setting where these timer options make sense. IDK
As you say Disable is only a click away.... Head scratch-er as how my VS toggles sans top check box "Automatically reactivate.."
