    I have two questions.

1- What is the diference between Emsisoft Internet Security and Emsisoft Anti Malware?
Only the firewall or something more?

2- I have some EAM and OA licenses that expire 07/2016.
Do you recomend me to keep both licenses (EAM+OA) or upgrade to EIS?

    Thanks.

to 1: Both products are using the same code base and files. The only difference is the firewall component, yes.
to 2: You can either have your EAM key extended with the remaining time or have your OA key swapped for EIS.

Would you guys mind stopping to share Emsisoft internal information? Remember the confidentiality agreement that you accepted while signing up for beta testing. I'm happy to discuss certain things with you directly if you're interested, but this tends to turn gossip here. Thanks.

My mistake. I did not think Emsisoft would care now that OA is being discontinued. I removed my post. My apologies!

I did not receive a pm, but I already removed the post since Emsisoft did not want that info public knowledge.

Just got your pm. I agree. No reason in discussing it any further unless it's in the context of looking for a replacement for the features offered by OA.

I have no doubt, but HIPS allow a full control on all work in the system, and the possibility of configure all activities. It's a better prevention.

@emsisoft Do you have any plans to make the pro version of OA free since it's the end of the road for the software ?

No, we don't intend to make anything freeware. We end the product because we don't want to spend any more time and resources on it. It would take us at least a year of work to update its codebase to today's requirements. And we're awaiting the day when we can shut down its old server interfaces.

I feel you. OA will definitely be missed. I was unable to find anything that could bypass it. I'm looking for a replacement now. I have not decided on anything yet. I would like to find something to replace OA network view. So far I have only found 2 possible replacements, but i don't think i'm going to go with either one. I'm still looking.

Edited 4/2 10:52: It's hard to find a tcp, and udp viewer that shows the country flags for the remote address. I really liked that, and I know a lot of other OA users that did to.

I have PM'd [earlier today] Fabian Wosar, to see if I can get some licenses [reactivated] for Online Armor, that he gifted me in February last year, so I can install it again in one of my snapshots. I will still have EAM and EIS running in my other snapshots, of course. :)

You can still disable the cloud part, leave everything as is and have a working firewall/hips (at least for older systems). But after seeing your post, I don't think you'll be doing that either.

It's not just the cloud part actually. Online updates and licensing (the freeware version uses licensing as well for example) have to be removed as well. Not to mention that it would be irresponsible to continue to provide an outdated security software.

I don't consider it irresponsible to provide it and leave the choice to the user. Place the setup in a deep part of your site and have a popup to warn it is outdated and not supported anymore, offer customer EIS, if they still want to get it, let them. I think you can arrange a solution with minimal effort if you leave the software as is.

Mine is just an idea it's your(Emsisoft's) software after all.

I don't quite get what you are trying to tell here. I know OA will be discontinued and I know they don't want to spend time&resources. Hence I'm offering a solution where they release the software at its current version as freeware (with no support and updates) after removing the parts which depend on their server structure. Just an idea, nothing more nothing less.

Historically when a security software house buys a product by another producer, the purpose is often to discontinue it. Anyway, it's always the end in the medium term.

To keep offering ideas when they have clearly stated they aren't going to do it, is pointless

It may be historical, but if you knew all the facts you'd know that isn't true.

Ideas are free mate, they don't cost anything. I knew they probably wouldn't do it, but it doesn't cost me anything to try my luck.

I think people greatly underestimate the effort removing all the server dependencies would be. If it was a job that could be done within a week, we would do it. It isn't. Not to mention that OA would drive people insane because it will question literally everything without the white-listing information from the cloud.
