I have 1.0.118.19 (Developer Build) snapshot on Ubuntu now. Unfortunately the Chrome Store crashes it on my Belnea notebook.

I downloaded and ran it for a while. It seems pretty nice. I'll wait until it incorporates more customized single-key shortcuts, and User mode before keeping it.

Now that I think of it, the new Opera and Vivaldi seem to be clones of Chrome, while Maxthon is more of a "shell", so perhaps that's why they never offered this feature, perhaps there is a technical reason after all.

It's difficult to say, Vivaldi genuinely seems to resemble Presto Opera. Maxthon is Blink-engined so there are bound to be some similarities with Chrome. I don't think extensions are particularly important to the Maxthon philosophy.

    Without extensions it's useless.

I agree. People are saying that many extensions work but i have tried a couple and they did not.

We have to remember that vivaldi browser has only been out for about a month so lets give it time.

What I meant is, that I believe the developers of Maxthon have developed their own version of the Chromium code, so it's not that closely related to Chrome as Vivaldi and Opera Blink. That's why Maxthon has certain features that you won't find in Vivaldi, the drawback is that extensions are less advanced. I do agree that Maxthon already does have most important features, but extensions are still a must, especially script-blockers.

I think Maxthon have their own take on Blink. Opera didn't have extensions for a long time. Extensions are OK if they keep pace with the updating cycle. I only have one extension (Maxthon Flag) on Mx anyway. A script blocker would be nice. Vivaldi will have extensions eventually though.

I've tested the latest version, it does seem to run a bit smoother. But it still lacks certain things, I don't see myself replacing Opera 12 for Vivaldi. But when it will add full support for extensions, it will become a better choice than Opera Blink and Chrome.

I think the 1.0.142.32 (Developer Build) snapshot (Ubuntu x86) is a bit smoother. It has a way to go yet, but I still think that there is potential.

Snapshot (1.0.151.7) Updated tiling and tons of polish Featured
    https://vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/tea...t-1-0-151-7-updated-tiling-and-tons-of-polish
    April 10, 2015

"Things have been very busy after a few days of Easter vacation. We are getting close to another TP and we are spending a lot of time on bugs and polish.

We have made some adjustments to Tab Stack Tiling, you now have a Tile icon in the status bar so you can tile Tab Stacks and selected tabs from there.

We have also added an “unread” tab indicator for background tabs.

Keyboard shortcuts continue to get attention and we have fixed a couple of annoying bugs there, for example the bug where shortcuts wouldn‘t work on error pages. Also Vivaldi will not send you back in history when you use CTRL + left arrow in text fields now.

Please note that if you installed Vivaldi as standalone and auto-update to this latest build, in some cases, you may not have access to your previous session, history etc after the update. If that happens, you can simply delete newly created User Data folder in your install directory, and rename your Profile folder to User Data."

I haven't tested Vivaldi for a while yet, instead I was waiting for their extensions implementation to become more complete before testing it properly. The tab stacking feature totally sends me back to the time of the old Opera, which was the only browser with a good implementation of that feature. Hope there's more to come!
