I use EAM and am their beta tester.
Every day I collect lots of samples and submit them.
Trust me...I know what I'm talking about.

In response to those wondering about Zemana, Inc. (the North America office of Zemana): we launched a brief promotion for Zemana Antimalware (no longer in beta!) that ends March 31, 2015. The discounted price is in effect until then via a link sent to past users of Zemana AntiLogger and Zemana Antimalware. Email was sent via Constant Contact. Contact us at extension 104 if you want the promotion price. H.U - CEO Zemana, Inc.

Interesting. The issue of ZAM unable to run in safe mode I observed during my beta testing. I mentioned it in post in this thread, and asked that this ability be added. I'm using the final release and it was still not do-able yet last time I checked.

Interesting video, why wasn't Zemana able to detect those two viruses? It would have been nicer to see Hitman being run first, because we are having a discussion about the same thing in another thread. It is like a Zemana vs Hitman pro.

It also would have been nicer to see the person going in to the program files and changing Zemana's program name to something else when the malware was killing Zemana. I don't think changing a shortcut name will do anything, but it would be nice if Zemana gets really good. As the person said though it could take several years.

I see scanning to the cloud has come back! It seemed to disappear from the portable version for the last few betas that I tested.

You still use Registry Mechanic? I thought Symantec retired Pc tools programs.

No, I don't use it any longer...but I do wonder why Zemana threw the spotlight on it for the first time since I have been running the betas.

There seems to be something with Zemana and Norton Safe Search

    Detected Objects
    -------------------------------------------------------
    Firefox Search
    Status : Scanned
    Object : Norton Safe Search - http://nortonsafe.search.ask.com
    MD5 : -
    Publisher : -
    Size : -
    Version : -
    Detections : Suspicious Browser Setting
    Cleaning Action : Repair
    Traces :
    Browser Setting - Firefox Search

Two times it detected it. The first time I cleaned it. Now it looks like it is back again. I use Norton though. Is this a false positive? There is also something up with the report as safe. I clicked on that instead of quarantine and that is the log that is repaired which I didn't click on.

    Hello Hugo,

Glad to see you here and thanks a lot for clarifying things about Zemana US.

    Thanks for sharing this.

Please notice that Norton Safe Search is a rebranded version of Ask Search Engine which too many users complain about due to the results they get and the annoying advertisements. That was the motivation behind not whitelisting it but as I always say, we are open to your ideas.

Can you please share your ideas about Ask Search Engine rebranded by AV vendors so we can discuss it with our team? Do you find it useful or is it something which must flagged by ZAM?

We appreciate your feedback about this question since we all know that Wilders Security members are above average computer users.

    Thanks!

I don't believe it's proper to whitelist this for everyone. Please let the user manually add it to exclusions as needed. Classify it as a PUP. If you do whitelist this type of program, be prepared for the conspiracy theories. My opinion is that it would do more harm than good.

I honestly don't use the Norton search. It is just that my isp uses Norton and I get to use Norton for free so I thought it was a false positive, but I usually get annoying Norton pop ups telling me to installl The Norton Search when it wasn't on. The time I removed it I used the Norton Search once and it appeared to work right, but I still got the pop ups from the Norton program. So your program must have removed something, but I could still use the Norton search.

Okay running a scan and I have a question.

    http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2qcjnev&s=8#.VSYB1pMgmDA

Why is it detecting only adware.gen installation files and not the adware itself? Those games came from Iwin, but everytime I scan the computer it only detects installation files and one uninstall fille. If you are installing an installation file that contains adware shouldn't your computer also have the adware that it installed like in the Iwin directory. It is only detecting installation files and one Iwin uninstall fille. Thank you.

My compliment on such a great product and in my tests it did great. Althought on a real infected machine (my relative's machine it did not detect all the infections. But still a great product.
