@dagrev ... are you imaging to USB-based storage? You also might wanna run the ATTO benchmark just to see how your storage devices (SOURCE and DESTINATION) are running as far as speed goes (unless some of those others have good speed benchmarks in them).

I have, enonod, I have but am still none the wiser, and have tried to follow what you have said and can make this happen (but in a different way...by forcefully crashing Windows) but IMHO it has nothing to do with AX Time Machine but rather relates to Windows not recognising the USB on that next boot.

@TheRollbackFrog: After running the tests I uninstalled AX64 and reinstalled. So far the backup seems to be back to normal speed for some reason. Thanks for you advice. I downloaded some good HD test programs and it's good to know it's working OK.

Still using version 1 and working well with my eSata enclosure. Hopefully version 2 and above will have good Windows 10 support.

If indeed the company "never wouldn't" abandon us, have got to sit a moment and ponder that meaning?

Is a full time, or even part time, secretary* really required. How long does it take to pop in once in a while and say hi folks we are still here, 15 seconds? In any event they seem to have done that recently and am sure all will be well.

*secretary is no longer permissable, must now say administrative assistant or risk PC police arrest.

A new beta should be out sometime during the 2nd week of April.

I was, as stated, comparing AX64 with InstantRecovery (IR). The references and fault are with IR not AX64. If Peter2150 were to read it 'he' would understand. I was, if you like, complimenting AX64 and showing that IR is not as foolproof as had been suggested by Peter2150... because of the fault I detected and described... The warning was to any potential new users of IR (while waiting for AX64).
The link might not be clear between the posts, but then few on this forum are.
    I am not dead.

In what way is IR not fool proof? Snapshot #1 screws up, you reboot to snapshot #2 and update #1 from #2. Fixed.

    Hi enonod

I debated where to respond, but since we are on hold for AX64 and it was started here I decided to just post here.

Okay, I see the issue you are talking about, the USB keyboard issue. I saw your posts on the Raxco forum. I see you discovered the Raxco support.

    So a couple of comments.

    1. Comparing AX64 and IR is just comparing Apples to Oranges if you will. Totally different design functions.

    2. Yeah the USB Keyboard is an issue, but there is a fix and you got it working. Given that keyboard users are probably a small percentage I would call it a major flaw

    3. The import/export issue is indeed confusing. I've only ever used Archives. Reading the documentation, the one big difference I see is that on export you can split the output file to put it on cd/dvd

    4. So I saw nothing, that prevent me from heartily recommended to users. Your experience just proves to me Raxco provides unparalleled support. Heck I emailed the AX64 guys 4 days ago, and still no answer.

If you want to pursue any issues further relative to the use of IR, lets do it in that forum

    Pete

OK, now you did it! That was not very PC as you noted. Today, they are called ADMINS except it is OK to call them a Secretary when it is "Take Your Secretary to Lunch" Day!

In the USA = Secretary of State
In the U.K. = Foreign Secretary
    In the U.N. = Secretary-General
and many more... very politically correct!

Well on my system, copying the current zone to the rescue zone yields to some errors, some Win8.1 app-related files cannot be copied and after reboot on the rescue zone, I have at least one app that needs, repair, DirOpus V10, I have to reinstall it and reload the settings... So it's not foolproof on my system. I should report this to Raxco some day...

I understand that Raxco support is excellent, so I wouldn't hesitate to contact them and get your issue fixed.

    You're not the only one.
I had exactly the same problem on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
After restoring a snapshot, some apps didn't work and some were gone.
Uninstalled it,and using only macrium reflect/aomei backupper to do full backups.
But back to the topic, which is AX64 Time Machine. :)

    To all,

I followed this topic from the early days...but lost track of it many months ago.
So I would like to ask your advice on something...

For perhaps over a year, I have been using "AX64 Time Machine 1.4.1.48" without any problems.
Today, I am in the process of installing software for my newly built "Windows 7 64" PC.

Do you think I should use an updated version of "Time Machine" on my new build?
Also not necessary...but quick "Coles Notes" on the official status & unofficial chatter would be appreciated. :)

I suggest that for the time being you stick with what you have been using. I am running Win 7 64 bit and am also using 1.4.1.48 with no problems. There is supposed to be a new beta coming out about the middle of April which will hopefully address the issues that version 2 has been having. Probably a good idea to wait and see how it turns out before paying for an upgrade to V2.

    Hello Peter2150
despite your comment to move this, I add one final (from my point of view) comment here.
It occurs to me that people do not read properly in this forum. There seems to be a tendency to read the latest comment (out of context) and take issue without reading the full story previously presented, thus 'getting it wrong'. I am not starting or stating any bad feeling, simply observing :)
There are several examples on these two pages. With regard to your item 2 in response; I am afraid I think you did not read the Raxco posts correctly. The keyboard issue was initially resolved by use of a patch, however, it became clear that if you did not know of the patch when you started the software, it produced the second snapshot, without the patch; of course. After creating several snapshots the problem becomes apparent but it is too late because the pre-boot choices screen does not appear. That information appeared in my posts to Raxco and they did not respond other than to tell me to contact Support, twice. Perhaps they thought it inappropriate to have it publicly visible. The problem of not knowing of the patch in advance is still not resolved and after contacting support with the details of events they have not as yet come back to me, but I did resolve my situation after much rebooting and jiggery. I will now vacate.

Hi, I have also use TM V1 with success on a Win 7 machine, don't change anything if it works (I mean restorations) for you.

If you're happy with 1.4.1.48 (as I am), just stay with it
