I looked at the right bottom corner of my screen when I came across this news...

Hopefully they can fix all the bugs in previous versions.

Yep, no UI changes, yet anyway, and it wanted to update but after 45 minutes it was 20% done and seemed to be stuck so I gave up on it so far. Maybe I'll try again with the next build.

    New in KIS2016MR0:

Audio Control* blocks access to the microphone for applications, that have been assigned “High Restricted” or “Untrusted” status. Programs from Low Restricted group will request permission to access the microphone. Works independently from webcam control feature.
*Currently this feature works only on x86 operation systems.

Trusted Application Mode settings have been moved to a separate window in product GUI (Main Window -> Show Additional Tools -> Trusted Application Mode). Added “fast enable” option.

Improvement in UI of Manage Application settings
    - Remastered window “Identity Data”
    - In the Manage Applications window there is an opportunity to sort by applications using the network
    - Now you can categorize unknown applications to any group/subgroup («change group for unknown applications»)

The product is distributed with reduced AV bases (for smaller distributive size)

Do Not Track* ** - New feature, which detects and blocks tracking queries from web-sites. It also allows to check what tracking system queries are found and selectively
block them. Detection statistics is available in browser (from plagin) and in product reports.
White list for trusted web-sites is provided.
*In 2015MR2 this feature was tested and was not included in the release build. DNT technology will be available in the final version of 2016MR0.
**Module is in the state of active development and filling of database. We’ll tell later special scenarios (to which things You should pay extra attention) for testing this feature.

Safe Money – functionality of Safe Money was redeveloped in a way to not depend on plugins in most situations. Plugins are needed only in several cases such as buying in online-shops. Please, pay special attention to the use cases of Safe Money.

Compatibility with KidSafe* - testing is held here.
*full support of compatibility is not realized in current builds of KidSafe. We will tell when the next build of KidSafe will be available for the testing of compatibility with KAVKISKTS

Network rules creation directly from alerts is added.

Password Manager – the installation process will be started directly from the link in the product menu (redirect is not ready yet).
-Links to the product for other are added

System Changes Control Settings* **. - An alert should be displayed for user if any third-party program attempts to change the browser settings or add extensions. An appropriate setting is added to product UI.
*In 2016MR0 we will gather usage statistics of this feature to improve and extend this functionality in later versions.
**In 16.0.0.207 not full realization. We’ll tell later special scenarios (to which things You should pay extra attention) for testing this feature.

So they added a function which many ppl already have by other means, just like anti-banner. I don't know if it is good for general public but at least for me, they added crap again.
It appears as if these AV vendor don't have sth to add anymore to appeal consumer so they moved to add other junks. IMO, there's plenty of room they can improve to protect consumer, if they don't care to investigate (e.g. good heuristics to detect XSS, CSRF, etc. stricter cert verification, extended fraud detection to block not only phishing. better social engineering heuristic etc.).

Options for consumers are getting slim, but Enterprise options are usually best as they don't have added crap. Why don't companies stop with the nonsense? Kaspersky seems to be falling beyond with more advanced systems/technologies, why so stubborn to adopt new, effective technologies?

How so? Trusted Application Mode seems to be a great thing that other products I have encountered do not have.

As for extra features, it is a popularity contest. You see products like ESET that do not add any, and some folks like that and others complain they don't keep up. You can't win either way.

Good points. So Trusted-App is basically reputation technology?

Yes. They've started using reputation based assessment of executables in 2008 (v8/2009), which was developed over the years and is now more upfront with options such as the mentioned Trusted application mode.

Word of warning, don't be tempted to use this on a production machine - uninstalling the KAV 2016 beta hosed a Windows 8.1 install for me (inaccessible_boot_device).

Just to be clear, i'm not complaining as I realise it is a beta, but i couldn't even get back into Safe Mode in order to give them a decent report. I will say despite it giving no errors it didn't appear to uninstall cleanly as System Restore would fail suggesting an AV was at fault.

Especially true of a beta but I have had this happen with final versions of Kaspersky, ESET, Norton, Outpost, and Avast. So... don't trust anything without a backup.
I try to do all of my beta testing in a virtual machine until they start getting to RC/TR stage. I know they like feedback on real machines too but I don't have one to sacrifice.

When you use the word reputation, try to make it clear what it actually means as almost all major AV recently use the word massively while all of them use the word slightly differently.

Kaspersky's Trusted Application Mode is more of anti-executable/application whitelisting with cloud-based whitelist. Kaspersky's reputation system is not the sth Mayahana have interest, this is basically early warning + cloud-based behavior analyzer + automated malware classification system, not a CAMP―Contents Agnostic Malware Protection which can block completely unknown malware even just by meta data. AFAIK, only vendors I can confirm they use CAMP are, Avast, McAfee, Symantec, and Trend (not sure about Webroot).

Particularly with 64bit browser support, why they simply refuse to develop for the more secure 64bit browser platforms is mind boggling to me.

Like Password Manager for example people have been asking for literally years for 64bit version to work in IE11 protected mode and other 64bit browsers. or Safe Money that does not work in 64bit browsers.

Have you tried the latest 2015 MR2? I can use safe money with IE 11 (64bit & enhanced protected mode) & 64 bit chrome.

I am using 2015 build is 15.0.2.361 but can't get safe money to work in 64bit Pale Moon however I did try it in IE11 protected mode does work but have to launch the site via the safe money app, browser will not do it automatically.

Edit: also tried it with Chrome same thing, will launch the site via the safe money app, browser will not do it automatically, plugin must not be working in the latest versions.

@Socio I think Pale Moon is not officially supported by Kaspersky for safe money. So also Opera.

I have read that this version is VERY BETA :) May be too soon for most to try it.

"Pay special attention to the word "beta". In this case it doesn't mean "might have one or two more bugs than the final release". This is a first build with plenty of missing features, and we've already seen reports of it leaving some systems unbootable. Don't install it on anything important or where there's data you haven't backed up."

Technical release has been finalized, build number is 16.0.0.614. Supports installing on Windows 10 RTM. Please wait until the installers and documentation appear on http://www.kaspersky.com/product-updates before jumping the gun... it wont take too long. :)
