AIDA64 is an hardware diagnostic tool, and much more. It has currently two non-free versions: - Extreme Edition AIDA64 Extreme Edition is a streamlined Windows diagnostic and benchmarking software for home users and enthusiasts - Business Edition AIDA64 Business Edition is an essential Windows network management solution for small and medium scale enterprises Site: http://www.aida64.com/ Forum: http://forums.aida64.com/ It has a long history. See: http://www.aida64.com/about-finalwire In short about the name and company changes in the past: ASMDEMO > AIDA > EVEREST > AIDA64 In the past we had separate threads when it was updated. For example the last one: "AIDA64 3.00.2500 has been released - [02/03 June 2013]" https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=348119 Let's have them now in one thread, this one. Edited to add: Just for the record, I am not affiliated with the company.

Be warned: Version 4 comes now bundled with Google. Your choice whether you want that ... Well, I don't want it. You can read more about that at: http://forums.aida64.com/topic/1570-v-400/ I'm wondering whether there are other users here at Wilders who still have AIDA. About the "Extreme Edition": I noticed that I wasn't able to upgrade from the latest stable version 3 to version 4 using its in-build update option.
What a load of horse crap. PC market != Enthusiasts The number of enthusiasts isn't shrinking, if anything it is increasing. And last I checked, only enthusiasts and enterprises/companies use AIDA, not the common user who doesn't even know how to do basic troubleshooting. But I guess this is a good thing. Now I'm 100% sure I'll never buy AIDA again, especially when free software can do the same or even better (HWiNFO, PC-Wizard, Open Hardware Monitor, etc).
Hi rpsgc, Well, we can un-check those checkmarks during installation if we don't want them. That's what I did. PS: I wouldn't mind if we would have another thread for those other tools, or maybe a more general thread. I would put it immediately in my bookmarks.

Thanks anon. On a side-note: I noticed that ESET (NOD32) is very recently not giving a warning anymore on the install file of AIDA64 aida64extreme430.exe . Until very recently NOD32 (version 7.0.317.4) was giving this warning: D:\...\AIDA64\Version 4_30_2900\aida64extreme430.exe » INNO » {tmp}\FinalWire_Toolbar_1.0.0.0.exe - Win32/Bundled.Toolbar.Google.D potentially unsafe application Why that isn't happening anymore, I don't know. One of those things that could drive a person crazy ...
Some times life is a mystery ... On 07 Oct 2014 ESET was detecting on older AIDA install files (say for version 4.00 and 4.30) Win32/Bundled.Toolbar.Google.D potentially unsafe application. At some moment later ESET wasn't giving such a warning anymore. I was a few days off home and returned today, loaded ESET defs 10591 (20141020) and did a full scan, and there was the warning again (as it should be IMHO): Win32/Bundled.Toolbar.Google.D potentially unsafe application Life is a mystery ...
Are your PUA detections set at defaults ? Are you pulling ESET's VSD's - (virus signature defs) - like we all do ? The software pings the update server every hour - it's imperative those settings are maintained at defaults. If the software is now bundled with a Google PUA, you can exclude the detection via the software UI. I'm not going to illustrate how to do that as no one should be running exceptions. You are (also) fully aware where queries for this detection can be *posted* although it's a concern for the purposes of this thread.

Hi ArchiveX, I cannot answer that question; sorry! There is an old list (from 2011) at the DSLR Software FAQ (ohh, how it brings back dear memories of lilhurricane ... ) where you may find some alternatives: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/12412 Maybe there exist more current and broader lists online. One of the progs listed there is SiSoft Sandra. Many, many years ago I had it installed together with AIDA (that was its name in those days). It has several versions. You can find it at those two sites: http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/ http://www.jaggedonline.com/ Edited to add: In reply # 5 in this thread rpsgc gave also some alternatives.
There are many alternatives. Better or worse than Aida. i.e. : http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-system-information-utility.htm http://www.piriform.com/speccy
