So I accidentally ran the clean command on my external HD. Yes. I'm pretty sure I'm almost done recovering my files, but I need some guidance in rebuilding my partition table, any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 1tb external HD, I had a 10gb fat32 partition, unencrypted at the beginning of the disk and another partition, ntfs, that filled the rest of the space on drive, encrypted with truecrypt. After reading a lot of posts on this forum, with some great info provided by great users, such as dantz, I've gained a lot of knowledge on the subject, but my situation is a little bit different than what I've seen so far. I have a (previously made) backup of the volume header, but I've lost the partition table. After running testdisk I know exactly where the fat32 partition starts and where it ends. I need help in determining where the ntfs partition starts (and ends? not sure if it's important) and what would be the correct method to restore it (and maybe also restore the fat32 partition, but not essential). My first guess would be to use the winhex method described, in other posts to make a file right after the end of the fat32 partition and check for the header, if it was there and decrypting, I would have found the beginning of the partition, right? Maybe to determine the end I could search towards the end of the disk, using the same method, for the embedded backup header. But even if that proved right, I'm not sure how to safely build a partition on that space. Again, any help is greatly appreciated Thanks for your time (I'm almost sure I had used gparted back when creating this partitions on the disk, if it helps)
