I'm wondering what this is a conflict with. I've tested it on 5 machines, 2 Windows 8.1 and 3 Windows 7 (all 64 bit) and have not had this issue.

I have had similar experience when I tested NS 2015. Without NS I have shutdown time 2-3 seconds, with it shutdown took me about one minute.

No shutdown issue here, all Windows 8.1 x64 machines. It could be related to them having to straddle the normal shutdown with Win7, and Hybrid with 8x. I assume a fix is coming.

    From the Norton forum:
ADMIN Update Nov 11, 2014: Our engineering team has identified the issue, and is working toward implementing and testing a fix to be included in a future update.

Norton apparently does all of it's work over unencrypted connections.

Anyone else have a problem with that? I think I do....

Source is my network sniffer. Nothing seems to be encrypted.

I've only recently come across Poweliks and the only app that I've found that can detect and remove it is Combofix.

    But what would prevent it?

    AppGuard, NVT EXE, EMET, MBAE...?

I was also interested in input from the link I posted from Symantec on:

Regin: Top-tier espionage tool enables stealthy surveillance
An advanced spying tool, Regin displays a degree of technical competence rarely seen and has been used in spying operations against governments, infrastructure operators, businesses, researchers, and private individuals.

I made an earlier thread about Regin, but you want to discuss it here?? Regin: Top-tier espionage tool enables stealthy surveillance | Wilders Security Forums

Norton has had quite a few issues with the Windows 8.x fast startup enabled. That combined with the sound card issues I have also had with it, and a few other small issues, I always disable it.

    Issues I have encountered so far with 2015;

    1) On one machine it was mysteriously disabling settings. The button was literally greyed out. Uninstalling/reinstalling the product fixed it. An annoyance nevertheless.
    2) The incessant nagging about their dumb toolbar gets old. Granted the fix is to allow it to install, then to disable it, it's still an annoyance.
    3) Norton appears to not encrypt a lot of it's traffic, including updates. This I find a bit worrysome, as it's not difficult to transfer data over HTTPS these days, using raw HTTP seems - ignorant. Also since I send all of my data through two layer-7 NGFW's, that means a LOT of extra scanning work for no particular reason.
    4) PUP detection, and web blocking still leave a bit to be desired. Especially the web/url inspection, it seems quite weak in comparison to other products.

Overall It's a good product, and especially good for folks like my daughter where file reputation systems save me from multiple infection cleanups. I wish Norton would take an aggressive stance against PUA/PUP's.

    Webroot

Given Norton has a 60 day refund Window if you purchased a 2 year subscription. It's possible I will use the refund option, but given the alternatives, quite unlikely. I feel Trend 2015 requires another major revision to marinade before I commit to running it on 12-18 machines here. I've tried Kaspersky, Eset, and Bit Defender all of which left me underwhelmed in one way or another... Emsisoft - if that doesn't pass muster, then it's no turning back with Norton. I do appreciate how lightweight it is these days, and the competent reputation system, and relative quietness on systems. The lack of encryption is disturbing to me as I move my network to progressively more encryption on everything. The increased load of 12-18 machine live updates from Norton being passed through two UTM's because of lack of encryption is the most pressing concern for me.

I have already observed this warning on two computers despite the toolbar being installed and activated.

Lord help me, I have, finally, found the b*** software. This product makes my computer fell like NuFinish was just applied. Honestly, Symantec you didn't just hit a homerun you hit a 536 foot homerun. :)

Fast, lite, very very effective - especially with aggressive settings. Tough to complain.. Toolbar still annoys me, but otherwise.. :thumb:

For a personal product this is currently my number one. It will stay on my machines. It didn't hold up in work testing. The parental control does not seem to work in a domain environment. I realize this may not be the right product for that, be we are looking for something affordable, with some basic parental control as a productivity enhancer, and this did not work for that. That said, I couldn't get it to work in off domain virtual testing either. It looked nice, but I could not get it to function.
