Perhaps my head is not on straight today and I have not gone to my daughter's to check out this hfs+ formatted drive. But here is an obvious question that I wish had a FAQ somewhere on this website. I have HFS+ 10 installed on a 64-bit Windows 7 desktop. I want to move a folder over to the drive to appear on the desktop of a Mac.

Where do I put it? In the root? Somewhere else?

In file explorer, navigate to the Macintosh hard drive and to access the desktop, move the folder to /Users/your_user_name/desktop

Sorry for the confusion - I was asking about it from the Windows not Mac perspective. I have the HFS+ drive attached to my windows system. There is no desktop folder or users folder on the hard drive

That is exactly what I understood - from the Windows side, you open file explorer, navigate to your HFS+ drive, probably named "Macintosh HD". If there is a Mac OS installed on that drive, there is a Users folder here as well.

hmm.... its an hfs+ drive has a bunch of folders (most hidden though nothing with a subfolder called "users") and the only two reg ones are Backups.backupdb and lost+found. I just put it in the root and hope they can read it.

So that drive is not your operating system drive, it is a Time Machine drive, used by Mac OS for backups.

ok - I don't know anything about mac hard drives and facilities. I gave them the hard drive on Tue with the folder put at the root. I hope they can read it (and am sure they can't they'll let me know :) )
