SpywareBlaster 5.0 has been running on my system for a couple of months. It was working, and updates were working for a couple of weeks. But now it has been nearly a full month, and the manual updater reports "No new updates available."

Perhaps this is correct, but I have been using SpywareBlaster for several years on other computers, and if memory serves, updates generally happen much more frequently. So I thought I'd check to see if others have gotten updates since 4/18/2014.

I discovered that the URL it is going to for updates is updates1.spywareblaster.net. Is this correct?

Probably like the rest of us, we too show the last update as 4/18/2014. I believe the best thing to keep in mind is that SpywareBlaster database updates are not cohered to an exact update schedule.
    Code:
    108.161.189.195 updates1.spywareblaster.net
Yes - that global CDN server information is quite accurate.

    HTH :)

    Thanks 1PW,

Yeah, I know they aren't on a precise schedule, it just seemed extraordinarily long, and I wanted to make sure it wasn't some config problem on my end.

Since it isn't just me, it's probably nothing to worry about.

    Thanks again!

I've noticed the same thing and since I'm still using Windows XP was wondering if Spyware Blaster is still supporting it and sending updates??

    Hello emjay1:
Untold thousands are now, and will continue using their XP systems. I failed to parse anything in the SpywareBlaster database update process that interrogates a client's system version. In my opinion, as long as new database updates are issued, XP systems will benefit.

    HTH :)

    Hi,

Please check for updates again - you should receive the latest updates (a big one was just pushed out).

And yes, SpywareBlaster still supports Windows XP. And we plan to do so for quite a while yet. :)

    Regards.

I've never seen a Chrome update since the first supported release. I wonder why.

I have also been using Spyware Blaster for years.. I was loading up a new install on a clients computer and when I updated the database I also noticed that there had not been an update to the Chrome database since it first came out last year. I am also curious about this..

I also have noticed no updates since they have changed to the new ownership. Now I sort of wonder just how protected we still are. If any of their admin types read these threads it would be nice if they wrote a reply.

    Always.

    Hi dear wildman,

First of all, I am so very happy to see you again!

The SpywareBlaster database is still getting updates. The latest database update (at this moment) was on 26 Sep 2014, as you can see at Ron's post in the Updates Alert forum:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/spywareblaster-database-update-26-sep-2014.368624/

The latest version of SpywareBlaster is version 5.0.
It works on my Windows XP and Windows 7 (64 bit).

May I ask which version of SpywareBlaster you have installed and what your latest database update is?

If you don't have the latest version of SpywareBlaster (version 5.0), then follow instructions here:
    http://www.brightfort.com/sbupdate.html

As for database updates: In the free version you have to check manually for updates. In the full version you will stay automatically up-to-date.

    I hope this helps.

Yup version 5.0 last update 26 Sep. I now have a machine with Windows7(64 bit) Home Premium. My default browser is Firefox 33.0. It has been almost a month with no updates. I check manually every day. With the amount of pop-ups and baddies out there this seems a wee bit to long.

    Always,
    Wildman

    Hi,

Please check again. We had some issues propagating updates to our CDN, but a new set was just pushed out and I think it should be correctly propagating now to all users.

    Thanks!
