    Hi All,

I'm pleased to announce that the official 2.07 version is now available.
Thanks to all beta testers for their contributions.

    Here are the download links:

Update from a 2.06px/2.07b1 (or VC2005-SP1 libraries are installed yet):
    32 Bits version:
    - English release
    - French release
    - Release with the translation plugin
    64 bits version:
    - English release
    - French release
    - Release with the translation plugin
(For an update, no need to uninstall your current version first.)

Fresh install (VC2005-SP1 libraries are not installed):
    32 bits versions:
    - English release
    - French release
    - Release with the translation plugin (for other languages)
    64 bits version:
    - English release
    - French release
    - Release with the translation plugin

There are few modifications compared to the beta version:
    - one fix for the protocol detection for the 64 bits version
    - Rulesets are updated with rules for IPV6 support. This is for a fresh install only. If you'd like to get these rules, please look at this post.

If you update from the 2.07b1, a reboot is required only for the 64 bits version. A reboot is required from previous releases.

The content of the 2.07 version:

    Additions:
    • Windows 7: Registration to the Action Center.
    • 64 bits versions: Protocols detection.
    • IPV6: Extension headers support (in filtering rules and packet content display).
    • Support for ECE & CWR TCP flags (congestion control) in rule edition and packet content display.
    • ICMPV6: for packet content display, added some new text description (for types 141 to 147)
    • IGMP: display of the type in the log
    Modifications:
    • Vista SP1: Update of the registration to the security center.
    • Improvements in protocol detection (available through the registry only).
    • For applications starting themselves (typical case: Internet Explorer , it's now the initial application (i.e. the grand-parent application)

that is detected as starting the application.
    • Default rulesets are updated to support IPV6 natively.
    • Packet content display: TCP flags now are indicated through letters
    • Software registration now requires an online activation
    • Registration text (in "Registration" tab) now updates with the registration status.
    • In the tray icon zone, added some alert message on some important events.
    • The registry entry: [HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\MaxUserPort] is used to compute the maximum value of local port.
    Fixes
    • Sometimes some Application Connections popup contained pathname with "\Device\harddisk0…" format.
    • Vista/Windows 7: the starting mode as a Service was sometimes available (notably after opening the Advanced Options dialog box and clicking Ok).
    • When the configuration is locked with a password, some menus were no longer disabled after translation with the plugin.
    • Some errors/crashes appeared with one of the driver when the Driver Verifier tool was used.
    • Application Filtering IPV6: port & IP selection through range & mask were not working properly.
    • Application Filtering: fixed a problem when full alerts (with IP and Port) were reported to the log with a high rate flow.
Look 'n' Stop Firewall 2.07 will be available from the official site in few days.

    Regards,

    Frederic

What would be best, an install of 2.07 over the top of 2.06p4 or uninstall current version and then do a fresh install?
    Using Xp home.

    Edit
Over the top install seemed to work fine. :thumb:
    So far so good. :D

It's better to install over the top of the previous installed release.
Driver installation is quicker that way, and you need only one reboot :)

    What can I do?

I use 2.06p2 and want to upgrade to 2.07, but I am wondering if my current registration and rules would be affected by the install? Would I need to re-register the software?

No, your registration and settings (including the ruleset) won't be affected.
You will have to activate your license online (this is something new with the 2.07), it is just one click on the registration tab, and Look 'n' Stop should be allowed to connect to internet (at least during this activation).

    Regards,

    Frederic

While I am aware that L'n'S needs to connect to your servers to register itself, I'm wondering why you say "at least". Are there other cases when L'n'S needs to connect out?

Yes, to check if a new version is available.
Also it could happen it is required for DNS resolution (if this option is set, and if Windows has been configured to have applications making direct DNS requests to internet).

    Well of course.

You mean "Solve IP address names" option?

Today my Win 7 RC expired and I installed my Win 7 OEM just now.
I had copy+pasted the registered email address and serial number from the Register-tab in the 2.06 version I had installed in Win 7 RC.
When I copy+paste the email and serial number from the .txt document in the boxes on the Register-tab in v2.07 64-bit, after a second the boxes are cleared.

I cannot check against the email message, because a couple of weeks ago the hard disk with my VMware VM's crashed, and I lost my Office 2003 Word documents and Outlook emails. I have no backups, because I'm a human being.

What am I doing wrong ?

EDIT: Never mind. I just found the priority support form.

Unfortunately no. 2.07 was the last public release. Phant0m does have an expanded ruleset that he updates for LnS. -http://www.queenscountypctech.ca/Phant0m/

It is in need of an update though... to bring support for Windows 8.1 update which breaks Look 'n' Stop packet-filtering. I'm not with Windows 8, but perhaps when I finally do get Windows 8 there might be something I can do to force it to work. But it would be better if it was officially dealt with. Hope the Gods smile upon Look 'n' Stop customers.

On win 8.1 x64 -- Look n Stop 2.07 x64 completely breaks internet access - even after uninstalling LnS with Total Uninstall.
LnS x64 worked fine on win 8.0. I am going to recover an image and try the 32 bit version.
I have been using LnS for so many years, I really do not want to use any other fw.

Total Uninstall doesn't perform a good job on Look 'n' Stop :-( .. Frederic said.

Not sure if Total Uninstall ever advanced to address the known problem.

It's not. The software is basically abandoned by the developer (Frederic). There has been no support or responses from him for several years. I'm not even sure he's running the site anymore but whoever it is, they're still selling the software.
