    Hello,

I have B&R 14 Home and made a system backup, by booting before, from the WinPE cd.
    I'm on W7 x64.
In Settings, I just changed the default value to No Compression and unchecked the Split option because I have NTFS.
    My questions are:
    1) About the Hot Processing option in Settings, I left the default Setting enabled which was "Use Hot Processing" and in the drop-down menu it was marked, but greyed out, Paragon Hot Processing.
I do not have Hot Core driver installed.
Is it the usual procedure in order to make backups from WinPE environment or the Hot Processing option should be unchecked??
    2) I backed up my OS in a second drive in my laptop.
I'd like also to have it on an external USB HDD. Can I just copy/paste the complex archive there or should I backup a second time, (the whole process), with destination the external USB HDD??
    Thank you.

    Regards,

I usually uncheck the Hot Processing option, but I think this is irrelevant, as this option doesn´t operate in a WinPE environment. As I recall, the option doesn´t appear when you use the new VD backup format.

You can copy the image to another disk, but I would prefer to create a new image. If you do copy the image, it may be a good idea to validate it afterwards.

    Thank you for your reply.
For question n.2, I will follow your advise and make the backup to the external USB HDD one more time.
As for question no.1, do you think that Paragon detects that it is a WinPE environment and Hot Processing is not used/ignored, no matter what the Settings are, or should I try again with the "Enable Hot Processing" option UNCHECKED this time??
FYI, I do not use the new VD backup format.
    Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards,

Additional info about copying images: How can i verify integrity of copied files ? - mass verifi

I really don´t know what´s the difference, if any, between enabling or not the Hot Processing option when working from a WinPE. I have never had any problem after restoring an image created with the option disabled or ignored. Maybe Paragon tech support could give you more detailed information about this.

One thing I found odd, is that when, once, (a few weeks ago), I tried to restore from WinPE environment an archive backup made with VSS IN Windows, is that after the restore completion, when the desktop appeared it showed a User Account Control message asking for Paragon "Do you want this software to make changes to your computer?".
The archive was checked before restore for integrity errors and no errors were found.
I could not reproduce it again but if it reoccurs, what should I reply to this UAC message, Yes or No??
Is this a bug? or expected behavior?
Of course I have other backup images made from WinPE environment for redundancy.
    Thanks.

    Regards,
