Well, TS is designed for general population and easy-to-use folks.... I do agree that advanced users should have more freedom.
Regarding WU, it is critical that it remains active at all times as to protect users with fixes/patches. For most people, that should be most important.
As for Wifi, hacks happen all the time with default admin passwords, so what might have been anoying for you will be life-saving for another.
Not many AV's go through the system check as these guys, to make sure there are no "leaks".
Their policy regarding this will not change. What might change is they giving you the choice to manage your "points of entry".

The initial updating of bitdefender engine and avira engine really needs to be improved and sped-up. Right now after 45 minutes, the bitdefender engine is still updating and installing. I had avira engine turned off so bitdefender updates faster. Still its being updated after 45 minutes and also avira took a long time to update but not as nearly as long as bitdefender.

Qihoo really needs to fix this bitdefnder and avira updating issue. I have a 25MEG high speed internet and the downloaded comming at under 10kb/s. My usual download speed is over 2MEG/s.

I might give up and unistall 360 total security. 360 internet security did not have this long time updating issue with its bitdefender engine.

 

I had the same problem with avira engine downloading and updating, it keeps turning even after hours not installed.

well finally all engines are finished updating, but my avira update shows yesterday 23rd and bitdefender shows 4 days ago 20th as the latest update Why after nearly an hour update, they are so old?

Well I will uninstall 360 total security and will try another security software until they fix these issues.

 

I mostly agree, and certainly understand your point of view. I think we're on the same page with flexible choices, depending on defaults. However, our experiences have obviously been different on WU. As a 20 year system builder and master tech, I have never had a single call about an issue that would have been prevented by updating Windows. However, WU itself is among the top 5 most common reasons I get phone calls from customers. (No1 is Malware, with HDD and power supply failures being among the top 5). I always tell my customers that AV products and firewalls are far ahead of WU, and will cover all but the most rare vulnerabilities. Thanks again!

 

Both BitDefender and Avira state they were updated today on my system. I occasionally see balloon text that states they finished updating, so they are working well for me. Maybe your firewall is blocking the update, or you inadvertently turned off automatic updating.

 

Is there any particular reason why my BitDefender database got stuck at 2014-07-25? It's over a month old now. No problems with Avira though, it updates daily. I tried uninstalling but it didn't help.

 

Via GUI, BD is 2014-08-27.
If you want, I could ask them for you. Some screenshots would be nice, info about your pc and general area where you live to try to troubleshoot the problem?

 

I uninstalled 360 TS after it reported everything I downloaded via 360 browser as malwares and would block the download windows Also it detected some macrium files as malwares and removed them and its cleaning and optimizer cleaned most macrium reflect files off the disk.

Horrible experience. For now I stay away from 360.

can anyone with macrium reflect installed test 360TS and its scanning and optimization to see if it still effects macrium? Also if someone would test 360 browser along with 360TS to see if still nay downloads are detected as malwares by 360TS? Test it please on windows 7

 

Do not use macrium so can't comment on that, on using both 360 browser and 360 ts, no problems whatsoever since day 1.
I'd say that's abnormal behavior, please report it to Qihoo as soon as possible with screenshots [blur personal info] and general details.

 

Have tested new version 5.0.0.2000 but still problems when installing avira engine, after hours still downloading en installing (turning icon) .......
i guess its a bad connection with their servers
My internet speed is 60 Mbps , so thats no problem

Do me a favor:
1: go to Start>Run [if missing, then WindowsKey+R], type msconfig, go to services, click Hide all Microsoft Services, then disable all except 360 Total Security, then go to Startup tab, disable everything except 360 Total Security, press Apply, press OK, restart when prompted.
This should enable core Windows and 360 TS only.
Attempt update/install of Avira after 5 minutes of restart.
If successful, then you had some software/firewall blocking it.
If not successful, then post back detailing your PC configuration and region of the world you live in, as well as Windows environment [version, architecture, etc], and custom security solution you have in the background.

When you are done with the above, then go to msconfig again, go to General tab [should have already be there], and choose Normal Boot, Apply, OK, restart when prompted. This should get your windows up with all programs enabled.

NOTE: RESTART when prompted IS of EXTREME importance to follow when prompted. LOG OFF is NOT recommended, full restart should be performed.

 

I have found a solution to the problem of avira and bitdefender update issue. Found a away to make them updates in second to a minute, instead of long waiting.

What you do is open download manager of 360 TS and go to setting and choose "custom speed limit" and set the numbers of both boxes to the highest. Also go and choose "do not use a proxy". Save it and then turn on both engines or if you are in the middle of download do this and it will speed up the update SUPER-FAST. I got it from an hour long update to less then 30 second for both.

Also I have a 25MB internet speed and with the new setting worked well.

by the way to open download manager, just righ click on .360 TS icon beside the clock and choose download manager. Then fro m top right choose the setting that has horizontal lines.

 

Anyone else have bittorent issues (disk errors) when using this program? UTorrent and 360TS don't seem to like each other on my PC.

 

Using Frostwire and Qbittorrent, no issues on security mode...

 

Actually, I misspoke. I am using qbitorrent, not utorrent.

 

Qbittorrent is known to have certain problems regarding HDD or ram high usage, I have ram problem if I leave it for hours. Try frostwire and see of you still have issues..

 

the best is torrent downloader is deluge. Very high speed download and very good and stable.

 

As a matter of fact, as with antiviruses, there is no "the best" one out there
BT Clients are supposed to be stable. And with high speed download, depends on what you share and how many seeds you are connected to.
What distinguishes one from another are GUI, options and features, and extra stuff, like ability to connect to Gnutella/Gnutella2, eDonkey etc....
