How do we know that Snowden didn't leave backdoors?

Well, Bruce Schneier argues that there are (at least) three.

But if Snowden did have backdoors, he would definitely want to look like many leakers.

    How hard would that be?

He's just revealing the truth. The NSA took an entire country offline through its own incompetence. That's a valuable piece of information to know, is it of course has pretty serious implications.

Now I'm wondering about that glitch, about two years ago, that routed much western US traffic through China. Maybe China was telling the truth, in claiming that it wasn't responsible for it.

"The US" is a pretty nebulous term. You'll have to be more specific. In this case, one might say it doesn't help the US politicians and bureaucrats who would like to maintain their status quo of being above everyone...but by the same token it helps the US population by making them more aware.
