If their FAQ is still updated then it's one year license for user's: http://www.trojanhunter.com/forum/board/FAQ/1143196931 http://www.trojanhunter.com/forum/board/Announcements/1138629799 Seem's to be subscription model if i'm not mistaken?
Thanks G1111. I didn't see a changelog too. Email has been sent to Support, but will there be a reply ... (I doubt it, but who knows ...). Someone posted a thread at the TH forum some days ago: http://www.trojanhunter.com/forum/board/TrojanHunter/1406991934 No reply there as of yet from Magnus.
I haven't yet upgraded to version 5.6. Yes, you have to do a clean installation !! Here are older FAQ's from siliconman01 about it: Procedure to Install TrojanHunter http://www.trojanhunter.com/forum/board/FAQ/1139255716 Simplified TrojanHunter Uninstall Procedure http://www.trojanhunter.com/forum/board/FAQ/1143355865
Hi G1111, About plugins: could you post a screenshot of the plugins in version 5.6? Here is mine on version 5.5: Which version/build number is showing in your TH Help > About tab in version 5.6? Here is mine on version 5.5 (on XP): PS: To be honest, I don't use TH often.
I spoke without realy comparing 5.5 to 5.6. They appear the same, so I am not really sure what is new.
As for where to find info about latest ruleset updates: We used this link for many years: http://www.trojanhunter.com/forum/board/RulesetUpdates OK, the TH forum has recently changed to http://forum.trojanhunter.com/ If I remember me well, yesterday there was info posted at http://forum.trojanhunter.com/t/latest-ruleset-update/11 (but I don't have a screenshot of it). Today I noticed there this: OK, now I go to http://trojanhunter.com/trojaninfo/ But that site has a contradiction. The top says: The bottom says this:
I just installed TH on this computer (Win 7) in curiosity about the info provided. I have a valid licence. TH Guard disabled. I used the USA server to get the latest defs. Here you have the info from the TH program itself at this moment: Ruleset datestamp : 2015-02-28 Scan kernel : 5.0 (Aurelius) Ruleset entries : 667033 Trojan definitions : 117955 Detection rules : 667033 So, as I expected, the info at the bottom of both http://trojanhunter.com/trojaninfo/ and http://trojanhunter.com/trojaninfo/latest/ is completely outdated as it is saying As for the top of http://trojanhunter.com/trojaninfo/ : How the company calculates the number (shown at this moment there as "We have information on 500,464 unique trojans") I don't know and that is not up to me, neither can I comment on the info provided there at the top of the site (shown at this moment as "39 unique trojans added in the last 24 hours").
Isn't this program itself, outdated beyond need. Truly is there any current AV that doesn't cover the ground.
Hey Peter, I had decided not to use it anymore on my new computer (Win 7) that I bought last year. Out of curiosity I installed it last night to compare the info from the program itself with the info at the TH site(s). The purpose was also aimed for the Updates Team after the recent changes: like which link(s) can be used in the Updates Alert Forum, the more after I "discovered" the contra-dicting info at the site. It could very well be that I give up and restore a backup-image that I made before installing TH. One could say, why don't you contact the company? That would be a fair question, certainly. But the experience from last years is not exactly encouraging with respect to that; but who knows, maybe it is improved; I don't know. That's the situation.
The developer is rather brave... wonder how many are still purchasing this product. Likely few if any.
It is very very confusing to say the least! The forum software is from another planet(have never seen that ever) but we will prevail
Hey my friend, I just had a look at both the two sites http://trojanhunter.com/trojaninfo/ and http://trojanhunter.com/trojaninfo/latest/ I noticed improvements. The very confusing and completely outdated info (which I mentioned earlier in this thread) at the bottom is now gone; I am glad to see that. Work in progress, I guess. Both sites are looking the same to me BTW. And I noticed a post by "support" in http://forum.trojanhunter.com/t/latest-ruleset-update/11 PS: I don't know whether Support = Magnus.
It's the same as usual, but now re-directs to the new one: http://www.trojanhunter.com/forum/board/RulesetUpdates Don't allow the re-direct. Overall more secure anyway, and a great time saver IMO.
