'Conversations you started' is the next option along.

You do have the option to 'star' certain conversations by selecting a particular one and then selecting 'star conversation' from the dropdown list and that is what this refers to.

WOW! This will teach me not to be away for a long time. Had to double take to make sure I was at Wilders. Like it!

Is there a way to attach a file to PM/conversation?
If yes, can .xls be used or just .txt and pics?
If yes, what button I'm not seeing to attach?

    Hello,

I am getting older and my eyesight is not the best (and it is getting worse)... I have an issue seeing embedded links in posts sometimes as the difference between them and the standard text is slight (at least it is to me and my eyesight). For example from this post: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...xenforo-completed.362348/page-21#post-2364954
    2014.07.31_14h13m29s_001_.jpg
Is there a way to make it more visible? Especially in longer posts I find these embedded links very hard to ascertain. I am using the default style for the forum by the way...

    Thanks stapp,

I do a lot of viewing here sometimes from my phablet and the default style displays so much better on it than the vB style. I also really prefer using the same style on all of my devices because it is a lot easier on this old mind... Sometimes it is hard finding a balance between the advantages and disadvantages of the two different styles. With me and my eyesight (especially on my phablet), the default style works best. The only disadvantage I have found using it on all of my devices is that I find myself overlooking/missing embedded links fairly often... HTH makes at least a little bit of sense...

I do understand about eyesight and forum graphic issues puff. I now have 4 eyes (if you know what I mean) but sometimes wish I had more!

I don't use a phablet myself but hopefully someone who does might be able to give you some tips about your issue.

XenForo's default is to just use color to highlight links. So, in the Default style, it was harder to identify links. This was made worse depending upon font, size of text highlighted in link, user selected color highlighting of other words in posts, and device / resolution capabilities...

I've set links to be underlined now in the Default style. (They already were in vB 3.x style.) That should help.

Well I was just remarking to myself (while lurking :ninja: ), that after nearly 8 months following migration, that this software etc. has been a big success I feel, and is a fine successor to the former board, so big thanks, salutations (and kudos lol :D ) to Mike and all involved, and hope you folks have a peaceful, and happy weekend.

A common issue is that 8) is replaced by . A workaround is to surround it by 'plain' tags like this: [plain]8)[/plain].

    ---------

    Ditto :).

What is the maximum number of private messages stored per user? It seems that some older messages have disappeared without warning.

The search functionality seems to associate the date of a thread with the first post in the thread. Perhaps it would be better if instead the date of the last post were used, so that more recently active threads are shown first.

Example: search titles only for Bitdefender. Many threads are shown before this recently active thread.

Clicking in the 'newer than' box in search gives a clickable calender which allows more recent threads to be shown.

This could be helpful for you perhaps.

    Thanks for the tip :).

Unfortunately though that won't show recently active threads that have a relatively old first post, because the date is associated with the first post when a given match is made to the thread title instead of a post's contents.

Currently, it's probably better to not restrict searches to titles only, because it's (hopefully) likely that a matching recent post will be found.

Personally, I never use the search - I don't need to. If I want to find a thread about something on Wilders, I just do a Google search for it and then put wilders at the end, e.g. bitdefender wilders.

Google has an interesting built-in site search capability...

    search this.jpg

That's a search box on google that directs searches here, on to our forum.

Forum owners have been talking about this lately. It's an interesting feature.

For Firefox users: you can do this more quickly with the extension Search Site.

I don't bother with that. Just entering wilders along with the search term is usually all I need.

If I click a result from Google search I get to forum page signed out. I have to restart browser to get signed in again (without actually sign in). Is there a solution for this problem?

That's not usual behaviour. Maybe you could try cleaning your browsers cache or using a different browser.
