I have been waiting to see a fix for the EMET problems that were identified in KB3175024. There has been no indication that Microsoft will be addressing the problem any time soon. The workaround is all that has been offered. I am now expecting that it will never be addressed having seen this post on the EMET forum today ... "Just heard an 'official' statement on a conference in Finland, that EMET will be end-of-life starting early 2017." https://social.technet.microsoft.co...-the-nex-version-of-emet-beyond-55?forum=emet I have not found 'the official statement' from Microsoft as yet. Still looking. I would not be surprised if this is a fait accompli for EMET on all versions of Windows. I have read that what EMET provides has been integrated into W10 so it was inevitable that EMET would become redundant eventually. Too bad EMET will not be kept around for W7 and W8 until they go EOL - c'est la vie.
FYI. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2458544 Scroll down to Which EMET versions are currently supported?
Tnx for the link JR. That is a 'release' EOL official statement, right? EMET 5.5 is EOL, January 27 2017. I think the guy who posted on the EMET Forum is saying that there is no more EMET after R5.5. I could be wrong.
emmjay, you're welcome! Yes, I read that article the same as you: EMET 5.5 support end date is January 27, 2017. The fact that there is no other version mentioned (at the moment) could point to its demise, however, with Microsoft one never knows.
Update: Updated Support End Date for EMET 5.5x "Finally, we have listened to customers’ feedback regarding the January 27, 2017 end of life date for EMET and we are pleased to announce that the end of life date is being extended 18 months. The new end of life date is July 31, 2018. There are no plans to offer support or security patching for EMET after July 31, 2018. For improved security, our recommendation is for customers to migrate to Windows 10. " – Jeffrey Sutherland
