I've been running IE11 ever since it was released and I have installed every MS Important Update. Over the past week or two my browsing has been interrupted several times every day with the error message "Internet Explorer has stopped working" (along with some words to the effect that it has to be closed). I have reset IE11's settings, but the problem still persists. I have performed several different malware scans, none of which reveal any infection. I have disabled all add-ons to see if one of them is the culprit, but the problem still persists. I do have image backups from the time-frame when IE was operating flawlessly, but I thought I would see if anyone can suggest a more direct solution (I haven't tried) so that I can avoid data recovery issues after restoring a image that's a week or two old.
Have you looked in the Windows Event Viewer Application logs to see what it says about the possible cause?
IE 11 has been acting up for me ever since I installed the last Win 10 AU cumulative update. So I guess, you are not alone. My main issue has been frequent restarts of IE 11 upon closing of it.
Well I'm running Win7 SP1, but thinking about it my IE problem started appearing right around September's Bork Tuesday!
Hi Cruise ...... my IE 11 has also been freezing - Intermittently - lately ...... not all the time but just on the odd website or two. I have only applied the 'speed up' update ( kb 3185911 ) from the batch of September updates at this stage and as reported on ask.woody website there is a bug apparently in the September Cumulative Update for IE 11 causing security certificate warnings to be displayed randomly when opening from "favourites" Maybe someone has more information on this
I used to have IE11 crashing (Windows Live Mail as well) on my Win10 machines until I stopped MBAM running in real time. It could be one of your security products.
Thanks Krusty, but I don't believe that's my issue. I've been running Bitdefender AV ever since IE11 was released (when I upgraded IE10) and never experienced this problem until earlier this month.
