Its paid anti-tracking features can be easily achieved by using free extensions.
Reviews made by toptenreviews and software.informer, very "reliable" sources.
As for its identity theft protection, it says, it is just a simple anonymizer, looks shady.
I pay $1 per month for insurance, which covers the identity theft, definitively worth more.

Many people might not like FB, but it gives an idea about users, this one has 877 likes, that is hardly enough for something being used in 20+ countries (lying?!).

    @ hawki

Well spotted ! It "seems" ideal. I don't recall knowing about this before, so i thought i'd see if i could install it.

    *

"Privacy Inc." Toronto = Praetorian Technologies, LLC Maryland

The Privacy Policy does not apply to the use of the TrackOFF privacy software. Please review the TrackOFF End User License Agreement (“EULA”) for the terms that govern the use of the software. https://www.trackoff.com/privacy

How are you supposed to know whether you agree to the Privacy Policy & EULA, Before you pay for it ? There is NO trial i could see on their www ! But i found this -https://www.trackoff.com/promo/install It's a Whopping 45.4 Mb's ! Why it needs to be that large ? I retrieved the EULA by starting & pausing the install.

    .

Could be "normal" UELA speak, but how would we prove we can trust them, unless someone sniffs them ?

    Lifetime license = 5 years max !

    Really !

It tries to install all sorts of updates etc, & .NET which i don't already have.

    TO.png

Due to various things, including .REG blocking by System Safety Monitor i installed last week, it failed to install.

Maybe others could try & discover how effective etc, or otherwise etc it is

Interesting info CloneRanger. Not a reassuring EULA. Thanks. I looked at the Company's personnel on the TrackOFF website. They "looked " honest. (LOL), but one never knows. I thought that the program covers a lot of ground, but does present some risk.

The CEO/C0-Founder is a lawyer who clerked for a US Federal District Court Judge ( a prestigeous position) and then went on to investigating and representing plaintiffs in class actions in data breach cases.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4tRH1uWlyw

I think it's a good bet that it's a honest start-up intent on doing good things. No sniffing or monitoring may just be there way of protecting their patent.

    Hey everybody!

I'm VP of Technology here at TrackOFF. My google alerts snagged this discussion and I'm happy to answer any questions you have about TrackOFF.

To address some of the issues already raised:

    - Many free extensions claim to protect you from tracking but, do so in a way that deprecates your online experience or hides your information in the same way every time, allowing trackers to still be able to identify and build a user profile on you (some even generate income by selling off your usage data). TrackOFF obfuscates your online identity by adjusting your fingerprint attributes in real-time, making you appear to be a unique user from one site to another. Also, since our product is not just an extension, TrackOFF works on all your installed browsers at once (As long as it's IE, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Opera). Finally, we offer a holistic solution to online privacy -- a kind of one stop shop -- against cookie-based tracking, fingerprint-tracking, and IP / public wifi threats.

    - I can try to answer the EULA questions as well (though you'll have to speak to our legal team for specifics because I'm not a lawyer).

1 - I think it's standard for companies to ask that users not reverse engineer their product,
2- The EULA also says that we will try to honor the user's lifetime license (most people don't have the same computer for more than 5 years) and I guess it's hard to have a contract last forever, and
3 - We also rely on certain third-party components to enhance the functionality of the product -- as is pointed out here, we use MS SQL server compact to help store data efficiently and maintain a small footprint. We only use trusted sources, like Microsoft, for these third party components.

Thanks for your interest in TrackOFF and let us know if you have any more insightful questions!

@TrackOFFGeorge What kinds of fingerprinting does it protect against? No trial version?

@TrackOFFGeorge Its always nice to have someone from the official team. I have a few questions

    1. The website of TrackOFF has Google Analytics. For a software which boasts of "Maximum Privacy Protection", isn't it hypocrisy? Piwik is a better choice, although no analytics would be best.

    2. The current solutions about blocking trackers, include addons like uBlock Origin, which is based on various block lists and Privacy badger which works heuristically. Does TrackOFF work the same way (but systemwide, like adguard/admuncher)? If not, what would be the extra benefit to the user, who is already using addons like uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, NoScript, Random Agent Spoofer in the browser and using a system-wide blocker as Adguard/Admuncher?

    3. The company/software is relatively unknown and its without trial. The download link here is 50 mb, quite big comparatively. So why should a user trust this software, when already many established softwares/addons are available?

Welcome to the Wilders community TrackOFFGeorge :)

Do the drivers comply with the Msft Win 1067 guidlines?

Does TrackOFF have an "auto-renew" policy? If so , what is the"opt-out" procedure?

Will the Elite version be available on Amazon.com?

OK, but are you also saying that it does a better job than other popular extensions like Ghostery?

Great questions. I'll do my best to address them.

Currently TrackOFF combats standard browser fingerprinting techniques, cookie-clearing (including super-cookies like MS Silverlight) and our Elite version adds VPN encryption. We have Web RTC and Canvas fingerprinting protection in the works.

We have had free trials in the past but have decided against them for the time being for a number of business and technical reasons. We now offer a 30-day cancellation window with a full refund should the customer decided TrackOFF is not right for them.

We partnered with Threat Track to package TrackOFF with their Vipre security product for an HSN special. HSN recently offered TrackOFF as a stand-alone product as well. http://www.hsn.com/products/trackof...3-pcs/8221745?query=8221745&isSuggested=True&

    1. I understand the concern, it’s a tough balance for us as I’m sure everyone here can appreciate. We pride ourselves on being respectful of user privacy and at the same time need to increase our exposure and understand how consumers reach our website. Our view also has never been that all analytics/advertising is categorically evil. It can be very useful. Our view is simply that consumers should have tools/options to choose when and how their information is shared (particularly their most sensitive data). That’s what we’re trying to build here. Having said all that, I’ve passed along your note to our web dev team for consideration of other options.

    2. Those solutions you mentioned for the most part rely on block blacklisting (i.e., the wholesale blocking of any content from domains deemed to be ‘trackers.’ TrackOFF doesn't technically block anything (instead, we scramble the data points that comprise a person’s fingerprint), so the user has a better experience online, read: we try hard not to affect the renderability of websites.

    3. It’s a valid point, we’ve gone back and forth with mini-installers (where the whole package is downloaded) but received some complaints from users about the install being disrupted mid-stream, etc. We’re continuing to work on making the installer smaller and smaller as we make the codebase more efficient. We appreciate everyone sticking with us as we improve.

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

Subscriptions do auto-renew. Cancellations can be made at anytime by emailing info@trackoff.com or support@trackoff.com

We do plan to offer Elite on Amazon be we still have a few details to work out.

As mentioned above, TrackOFF works differently than other privacy protection tools that monolithically block third-party domains. Our view is that in the end our technology will prove itself to be the most effective/least intrusive on user experience.

    @ TrackOFFGeorge

Earlier i asked, how can anyone read & agree to your EULA, BEFORE the purchase ?

If you don't offer a trial anymore, the only way to discover/read the EULA is AFTER installing has begun ! = Catch 22 = Not good

Thanks for the info. I personally don't need this level of protection, but I'm sure that a lot of people will be interested.

I wanted to take up this stand-alone offer, but I found it was only available to those who reside in the USA. Too bad, it wasn't available to me, in Australia.

TrackOFF Basic is avaiable as a giveaway for the next 23 hours at Giveaway of The Day. However, it's only a 6 month license.

Oops, Just spotted your post! It performs OK, from my point of view. If you contact them, they may offer you a trial to test. Can't harm to ask. It seems the developers, no longer follow this thread. They haven't posted here in ages. I do have one quibble with it. It doesn't show Opera as protected.

Also, I don't have Firefox installed on my laptop.
