    Hi, yesterday i downloaded and installed a trial of Safervpn.
    After installation I opened the program and shortly after I got a message from Sandboxie, asking if i wanted to add something to the software compatibility list. This is a list of programs that might cause conflicts with sandboxie.
    The program was widows remote management something, which alarmed me.
    Can anyone familiar with vpn software explain this.
    Many thanks

    Where did you download it from? Maybe it's got malware.

    I hope not, Thanks for the reply mirimir.
    I got it from the main site https://www.safervpn.com/vpn-free-trial
    The alert from sandboxie only appeared the once , however I reinstalled the vpn again ( new 24 hour trial ) although i got no alert, when i look in the comparability settings, the entry appears only after i connect with the vpn

    OK, that seems safe enough :)
    Maybe Sandboxie is misclassifying the VPN client. Or maybe the VPN client does include the option of remote management. I recommend asking their support.

    I contacted customer support. They told me to try setting 'routing and remote access' service to automatic. This made the entry in sandboxie's compatibility list become permanent and not just when connecting with the vpn. I relayed this to them, they then wanted me to allow them a remote session, which i am not going to.So i am none the wiser. I may ask on the sandboxie forum.
    Cheers

    Earth .... occasionally
    @mirimir

    That would seem the logical conclusion to me too , but you have to wonder why they think it necessary .

    Of the numerous VPN services I have tried , I don't recall ever seeing anything similar bundled in .... have you ?
    You have tested way more of these than I have , and in far greater depth .

    As we all know , using any VPN requires a certain degree of trust in the service provider , and this would make me very wary !

    OK, so it does seem that they include the option of remote management. That is weird. And it does make me suspicious, especially because support asked OP to to allow remote sessions.
